Default Ads with people singing badly need to stop now.

I wasn't actually going to post about this, but it's really getting to be too much now. I first noticed this trend with these truly awful Esurance ads; I have seen at least two: one with a male "customer" singing where they sound incredibly whiny and off-pitch and another with a singer who isn't shown, but he's singing something like "It's OK to be yourself/It's OK to be yourself/Because you are you"--it got so bad that now I have to mute the TV if I'm in the middle of a show.

30 seconds of the song in the Esurance "Customer" ad (supposedly posted by the guy himself). This is the only one I can find on YouTube.

Then, Subway started "$5 Footlong" ads, which, while the singing in them wasn't so bad, started to be aired WAY too often and I'm getting really tired of hearing the lyrics. I don't think I need to link to these, hell, one came on while I'm writing this post.

Recently, I've also seen an abundance (at least three different versions) of "Cricket" ISP advertisements, again with bad singing and all using the song "Respect" by Aretha Franklin.

Link 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE36CxYFz2I

Finally, Wendy's has a new Coffee Toffee Twisted Frosty, which has an ad where these five boy band wannabes break into a self-styled pop song about the product. This, like the Subway ads, is shown way too many times and I'm realy tired of it.

Feel free to add your own thoughts.

I was thinking the same thing earlier but not about the ones you were saying. I'm talking about all the ads with the songs that sound exactly alike. That ATT one and almost all ipod commercials.

Yeah, it's lip synching, but it's pretty bad and kills me every time it comes on. Which is often.

As mentioned, the "$5 footlong" commercial needs to cease airing...NOW. It's on the radio so often it makes me not want Subway (although they're about the worst sandwich chain anyway and I don't like them, regardless of any commercial they might produce).

The "$5 footlong" thing came to mind as I was reading the title of this thread, but I see I'm not the only one. The Esurance ones are pretty bad too. I kinda thought the Wendy's one was funny the first time because it was so ridiculous, but by the second time I saw it, it wasn't funny any more.

Yes, I hate these commercials.

The "FreeCreditReport.com" commercials are some of the worst. I remember years ago, before that idiot looking guy starting doing all of them, they had a woman's voice singing "Freeeeeeeeeeee credit report DOT commmmmmmmm", and even though that was annoying, I'd gladly take that over these new ones.

The sad thing about the E-surance guy is that it seems like he's a failed musician, and he probably wrote a song called"Get Animated" but re-tooled the lyrics for E-surance.

What's even worse is that there are cover versions of it on YouTube.

Then again, I hate advertising in general. It's sad how much people are willing to annoy us, just because they can get paid for it.

I actually kind of enjoy the Free Credit Report dot com commercials — I mean in the context of commercials, as I don't really enjoy any commercials. They don't over-play them here in my market, apparently; I don't see them too often.

I would gladly listen to all of them if I didn't have to dive for the remote when the shows go to commercial. That new Gatorade commercial is L-O-U-D!coverears.gif

Bose does the same thing with their commercials. They're like twice as loud as whatever show/movie you're watching.
