Default IPOD or ZUNE

Hey, guys. I know its been awhile. Well I'm finally over here in Iraq and was thinking that I'd like an MP3 player. Do I want a ZUNE or an IPOD. I read a lot of things that say the ZUNE is very underrated, and even CNET has it pulling even with the IPOD in one of their comparisons.
I borrowed a friend's 2GB IPOD NANO and liked it enough to decide to get my own player with more capacity, but the IPOD music syncing process is really annoying I found. I can't add just one song without having to re-sync everything.
I was looking at either the 16GB IPOD NANO or the 16GB ZUNE. The thing is, even though the MSRP on Microsoft's website says "$179.99", Amazon has it for "379.99". ...what....?
Anyone have an input on what I should get?

I never used a Zune, so I can't really comment on it, but I wanted to clear up that the syncing issue with the iPod you mentioned isn't true.

If you get an iPod, when you first hook it up to a computer, make sure you disable the auto-syncing thing (which matches up the iPod with the library on your computer). Once you do that you can add 1 song at a time, or delete specific songs, or whatever you want to do.

the one problem or whatever with that is that if you make "ratings" for songs, they don't actually translate from computer to ipod. So, your ipod could be rated with best and worst, or your computer, vice versa but you would have to manually do both...

However, it's a small price to pay.

I'd go with an ipod. Just got the new touch. It's sweet. I have verizon, so it's nice because I don't have an iphone...

but if you have at&t, pick up a hundred dollar iphone and save yourself some money...

When an iPod and computer are set to sync, the ratings will be updated back and forth. So if you change some ratings while listening to your iPod, the ratings on the computer will reflect that, and the same for if you change ratings on your computer, and plug your iPod back in.

When not synced, songs with ratings on a computer will keep their ratings when moved to an iPod, but obviously not update any changes you make on either.

There's a reason why there are Ipods everywhere you go. Not only because it's a fashion trend ( which it is) but because they are simply awesome. My 2nd generation iPod ( so long ago!!) still works till this day but the battery life isn't what it used to be.

I'm waiting for bigger than 32gb to get a new one.

iPod, because everything Microsoft does is fail...well mostly because i have a theory about a time bomb and xbox 360s, when your warranty expires it dies, happened to my xbox a couple weeks ago, and my friend's xbox 360 today...

3 yrs ago I was saying "I'm not going to fall for the IPOD hype". Went out and bought some other 8 gb player. Used it for a week and took it back. It blew.

Now I've got a 32gb classic w/video and both my daugthers have shuffles. We like them and they are easy to use.

I went with iPod mainly because of the third party support for cars. Not much out there for anything else aside from the crappy auxiliary inputs which are a PITA to mess with while driving and the sound quality sucks. I can't live without it when I'm driving anywhere.

True, but my music library alone is over 21Gb... can't fit it all in the iPod just yet. So for now I still love my iPod.
