I have very mixed feelings. I'm happy were getting a classic on BD real soon. I would have loved to see an ultimate edition instead.

I own this on DVD, although i will admit that i have never seen the orginal version, only "this version that we've never seen". I wish there was an ultimate edition with both versions and some good extras

which by the way you think they could rename this bluray to something like "The version you saw a few years ago" or something

There's no reason why they can't use seamless branching to have both versions.

But, I prefer the extended version, so I'll be getting it.

I only want the theatrical cut, so if it's not included, I probably won't buy this.

Not surprised at all, they probably re-thought the whole special edition nobody wants thing and are re-doing the transfer to have the original version instead.

I am happy that both versions will be on the disc now and that the DP is actually involved in the remaster, so HOPEFULLY no repeat of that good ol' The French Connection disaster with The Exorcist.
