Hello,
I have recently bought my Panasonic P46G10, but am not completely satisfied with the audio. I want to expand a little bit now but I am looking for some input, as my room has quite an odd shape and the location of my tv itself might change the options I have. ![]() Pretty crappy drawn but I hope it works, green line being my tv and the X being the point I sit when I watch tv. What I basicly want is that feeling that you are really "in" the movie when watching, the picture is doing this right now but the audio most certainly isnt. I want to hear stuff around me etc. Now since my room is rather small, is there any point in going with a 5.1 set at all? and can a 2.1 setup give me the kind of audio that I am looking for? Any input is very much appreciated, thanks ![]() Last edited by stfn; 07-04-2009 at 05:42 PM. |

A few questions first:
1. Why can you not move your TV to the left and put it flat against the short wall, and also move your seating position to the right, so it would be facing your TV? Is this possible? Then you would be in a position to very easily put a 5.1 or 7.1 system in your room. 2. What are the room's overall dimensions, including height? 3. Where are doors and windows? 4. What kind of budget are you on, and would you use the system mostly for music or movies or gaming or TV or what? 5. How is the room treated? Hardwood floors or carpet? Drywall? Any heavy drapes? Soft fluffy furniture? |

What are your room dimensions? L x W
From your diagram 5.1 looks possible. center speaker below or above tv, left speaker left of tv, right speaker right of tv, left surround left of seat, right surround right of seat & subwoofer right or left of the tv near front speakers. |

The dimensions of my bedroom are (in meters) L 6meters W 2,10 H 2,30.
I changed the picture in my first post, the long brown line is my window, and the short brown line is my door. Therefore I can not put the tv on the short walls(the tv is actually bigger than my picture shows it, It wouldnt fit next to that door) and had to go with the position I use right now. Second option was the other long wall, but the wall itself was not thick enough to hold the wall mount so I went with the other one. I mainly use the tv for gaming and movies, I havent listened to any music on it yet but I might in the future. I have plywood floors, and no drapes at all, a few bookcases for my movies, but those do not take much room. So yes the room is really quite small, and the setup might prove to be a problem if I want to add anything. I will see if I can get a picture of my room later. I have not decided on a budget yet because I have to see with what setup I go with first, I hope it can stay below 800$ for the speakers though. Thanks for the replies |

why not turn your room around then and put the back of the TV against the window on a stand and then build around that? Not only will it give you a better layout for HT but you should also be able to reduce the glare you may get on the plasma.

Nah I am not in the position to move the tv anymore, I can also close that window so no light comes in at all.
Unfortunately, I hope I can make something nice out of what I have right now. Will a proper 2.1 setup give me the surround sound I am looking for? |
