Angry Did/do you hate stuff sitting on your TV?

Harder to do these days with TV's being so thin, but was/is your TV acting as shelf space for family portraits, ugly plastic plants, or other home entertainment systems?

My parents still have a console TV from about 1972 or 1973. It is HUGE. Record player on one side and 8-track / radio on the other. You lifted the panels to use the accessories.

Over the years the center of that TV got pretty cluttered, but now that it no longer functions, it just sits there and the WHOLE TV is a mini museum. 40" TV on top with DVD player, photos and even a statue around it.

My 34" Sony HD Tube TV only has the antenna on it. I want NOTHING ELSE sitting on it. Maybe some Christmas cards during the holiday season but that is it.

How do you feel about it?

Please vote in the poll.

My parents and grandparents also had those huge wooden TV's back in tne day, they had pictures and knick knacks on theirs, those were also considered furniture back then!

My Sony tube HDTV has the center speaker sitting on top of it, as well as the occasional Netflix disc or dvd/Blu-ray case and any assorted thin-wire items, like iPod earbuds, so our stupid cats can't chew them.

I hate anything sitting anywhere around my TVs. My kids drive me nuts always leaving game controllers, movies and games sitting on top of the cabinet that my main TV sits.

The movie room is all mine........

The bedroom and living room are sacrificed to the will of the wife and kid..... and it doesn't bother me..... the living room T.V. has so many hand-prints on it, it's a complete mess.... and the "stand" is about 9' long and 6' tall, so it has toys, books, wife's weights for working out, pictures, plants.... etc... on it.

Center speaker on a platform is all that sits on my Sony rear-projection HDTV. Nothing can sit on my flat panel Sony. I also try to keep the shelf units clear of clutter.

The rest of the condo...not so neat.

If I were to place anything on mine, it would just fall right off. However, my mother always puts these stupid fake flowers on my tv stand

the 1st TV I ever had to myself in my own bedroom when I was 14 or so was a console TV- a big piece of furniture with the TV built into it. I would put my Atari and sega and nintendo units on it. As I got older around 17 or so my TV was smaller as it was just a tv not a piece of furniture and I only put a center channel on top of it.

Now with plasma nothing sits on it. lol

The wife used our old TV as a sideboard (photos, clock, flowers), now with the advent of slim TV's it just falls of so NO, nothing goes on it. And as it sits on the wall, nothing goes around it

This makes me happy.

I voted before reading your post, and so mistakenly voted for my tv being a museum exhibit, but I meant it in the way that no one is to touch, move or place anything on or near my tv. Leave it alone!

No room for anything on my TV, since it is on a TV stand. It would simply fall off....which is the way I want it....nothing on the TV, speakers and subs!
