Exclamation I have just rented my very first blu-ray

Mainly because their was more titles available in the rent section than to buy. I got 4 BD's for €13 and keep for 4 nights. So i got to the car..opened the cases..each disc has fingerprints on it! Thats what i used to hate about renting DVD's and now BD's...the dam fingerprints! Anymore i am buying BD's even if its a blind buy, because the fingerprints really "grind my gears" lol.

Rented Memento the other week and got to about 10 minutes left in the movie and the disc crapped out. So so disappointing considering the content of those 10 minutes, I eventually saw it.

I find that fingerprints can be cleaned easier on a Blu-ray compared to dvd's.

I've had a couple that have not played because of fingerprints. Took them out, gave them a quick wipe with some Downy Ultrasoft , voila... worked like new.

you should just beable to give them a quick wipe with a 100% cotton cloth and they should go away on a blu-ray

I rent a decent amount and I have not had a problem with a single Blu-ray; however, from the same local video rental store, I have had problems with DVDs (fingerprints, scratches, etc.). I think that BDs are just much tougher discs based on how poorly renter treat discs.

Sometimes I wonder about why people don't care when they leave discs out on shelves or floors; I have a ten year old cousin who does that a lot and his mom has no problem replacing his movies and video games that get too scratched.

I also think the better life of blu's bieng rented is currently also becasue those who own them probably tend to be more carefull with them then those who haven't upgraded to blu and still use dvd's.

Dang! I can't believe I missed that point. You're right. Does that mean that soon, as Blu-rays become more prevelent, we'll be finding a lot of screwed up discs? I gues I just need to stick with new releases at that point.

Main reason that I don't bother renting. Keep supporting the format... BUY BUY BUY!!!
