What, just ONE topic in the thread?
Are you absolutely sure you don't want to make it "Top 10 Favorite King movies, and then after that, list your All-Time Favorite Horror Characters in at least 5 Favorite movies from the 70's-80's, with your Three Favorite Pizza Toppings?"

(Well, they may be Cullen-esque thread-whoring, but at least they save space...)

Pet Sematary, Misery, Stand By Me, and 1408 would outrank Cujo and Silver Bullet for me.

I won't bother making a top 5, I liked most movies based on King's work. With the sole exception of Maximum Overdrive, that one sucked in my opinion.

For me I find him a bit overrated as a writer, I picked up some of his books over the years, most were just not that great for me.

I only have a top 2 for his movies

1. The Stand (the only book I did like from him)
2. Shawshank Redemption (one amazing story and movie, never read the book)

I think King is an incredibly gifted writer - and the most prolific American artist this side of Twain, Rockwell, and Disney. King is almost too prolific -- he's like a shotgun -- he doesn't hit the target so much as he impacts everywhere near it. IT is a masterpiece right up until the climax. Same thing with THE SHINING and THE STAND. His short fiction seems to have a better sense of story - Shawshank, Green Mile, The Body (Stand by Me) - and it is no wonder why they're his best cinema adaptations.

By the way, I thought Mikael Saloman did a great job with the Salem's Lot reboot. And the 5-6 hour version of STORM OF THE CENTURY was wonderful as well.
