Hong Kong English Patient (HK) - August 07, 2009

Hopefully this is better than the Alliance release.

Quote:
Winner of 9 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Anthony Minghella) and Best Supporting Actress (Juliette Binoche), this powerful motion picture is an experience you will never forget. During World War II, a mysteious stranger (Ralph Fiennes) is cared for by British allies unaware of his dangerous past. Yet, as the mystery of his identity is revealed, an incredible tale of passion, intrigue and adventure unfolds. Also starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth and Willem Dafoe.

This is good news. Hopefully this release is not in 1080i like the Canadian release, and more importantly, it better had be in the correct aspect ratio. If both of those wishes are fulfilled, then I will be picking this up for sure. Great film.

Remember that Panorama Distributions' release of Se7en was a localized copy of the Alliance Canadian release, this may be the same thing.

Sorry for bumping a really old post, but does anybody have this disc yet? I can't find any decent reviews, just one dude on some forum claiming that he didn't think it was 1080p even though the case says it is.

It's only like $22 on DDDHouse so I'm wondering how much, if any, this is an improvement over the Alliance release since I don't have a region-free player for the German one.

I'm bumping this thread too to ask about the quality of this.
Does it have the US or the UK transfer? (they're different with the latter being inferior).
Also, what extras does it have?

I could have bought the US disc, but I have a somewhat "silly" reason for not buying it.
I hate the cover!

edit: Never mind. I saw this user review.
