Default Newb questions: Denon 987 vs Pioneer SC-07

Ok so I know some stuff about home audio but nothing compared to what everybody here knows. That being said I also know of the SC-07 owners thread and having read through a good part of it, I'd like to ask these questions:

1. Denon 987 vs Pio Sc-07 - which to keep. purchased denon 1 yr ago BNIB for $350 and pio sc-07 display model last week for $500. Number of hdmi ins/outs in comparison is not a big deal but I know the sc-07 supports 1.3 vs avr987 at 1.1? any real difference? I looked it up and found more support for xv color and deep color which is all fine and dandy b/c i have a 52xbr6 but I dont think I'll see that difference.

2. Does the sc-07 do HDMI passthrough in that if I have my BR (bdp-51fd) hooked up to it but I dont want to use the receiver, will sound and video both come through on the tv with receiver in standby mode? or video only? or nothing

3. Which one uses less energy?

4. what other advantages am I getting from the SC-07? Wattage is not an issue.

5. Do either of these receivers upconvert HDMI sources? as far as I can tell, I dont think either do

I have more questions but am blanking right now.

Thanks in advance for the help.

My current components/config:
Denon AVR-987
Pio BDP-51fd
Toshiba HD-a20
PS3
Xbox elite
cablebox/DVR
sony 52xbr6

Ill try n help as i have an 07
1 As far as 1.3 or 1.1 hdmi inputs or puts i dont think ne think actually supports xvycc or deep color the equipment does tv's bd players and tv's do but theres no source material that i know of that actually supports this feature i could be wrong dont hold me to it so with that id say throw that feat out the window i would keep the 07 for the ice power amplification and 140 watts of power over the denon

2 Me and a few others are currently experimenting with what hdmi devices are actually controllable with the 07 in standby mode. Be warned pio states clearly 2 things 1:IN ORDER TO PASS THRU SIGNALS IN STANDBY MODE BOTH DEVICES MUST SUPPORT HDMI CONTROL AND IT MUST BE ENABLED IN THESE DEVICES 2: NOT ALL HDMI CONTROL DEVICES ARE GUARANTEED TO WORK TOGETHER EXCEPT THOSE MADE BY PIONEER. In other words a sony bravia link which is what sony calls hdmi control is not guaranteed to work in standby mode with kuro link which is what pioneer calls hdmi control.( Of course all components must be connected using an hdmi cable)

3 Not sure Bout the denon but i do know the 07 has been praised time n again for acuartely producing 140 watts continuous power thru all 7 channels and for doin so extremly efficiently(ice power)

4 Again not familair with your denon unit but id say if u got ur self all pio equipment u got a kuro link or hdmi controlled setup

5 07 will only upconvert analog signals by way of dcdi faroudja up to 1080p out thru hdmi.Hdmi signals will be passed thru untouched at native res
Any other questions p/m me

Thanks alot for the help and input. Its much appreciated!!

some of the other options I'm also considering include
Denon 3808
Denon 4308
yamaha rxv1900

but those all costs a good deal more, plus the Pio seems to be the best deal still. thanks again.
