I just got a HK AVR 132.... and planning to buy the JAMO A102 HCS 5 speakers.
Since the AVR works on 8 ohm per channel and speakers on 6 ohms, I'm a bit worried if this mismatch, would effect the sound quality. And what abt high volumes? SL |

Well, I'm not sure but I think it won't really effect too much so you might be able to go with it...

This shouldn't have a notable difference. Since speakers are 6 ohms, it will pull slightly more current from the AVR than expected and could be slightly louder. Do not turn the volume all the way up - there is a possibility that the amplifier may clip and damage the speakers.

I'm running Jamo speakers with an Onkyo receiver and haven't had any problems so far. Like others have said, just don't turn the volume all the way up and you'll be fine. In fact, my Onkyo (the 605) is rated for both 6 and 8 ohm speakers.
Welcome to the forum and don't forget to stop into the Jamo Speakers Thread. |

I'm a bit concerned, as the specs on your AVR indicate that it outputs 30 w/p/c into 8ohm over 5 channels. That is NOT a lot of power. I would suggest you stick to an 8-ohm speaker setup as you'll be limited to power output using 6-ohm JAMO's.
I would look into some very high efficiency speakers (above 92-93db) rated at 8-ohm instead. John Last edited by Johnny Vinyl; 09-03-2009 at 03:23 PM. |

Thnx for yr feedbacks...
I think John u r right. It doesnt make sense if I dont have enough power and run the risk as others have suggested. I'll stick to the 8 ohms. |

Yes, high efficiency is always good. Low efficiency speakers could reduce the actual sound output considerably even though the amplifier power is high. A fact that many people overlook.
