It's already on sale in the US, hopefully we'll get a UK version that takes advantage of BD50s instead of the US BD25s, we'll have to wait and see.

Amazon in the UK hasn't had Planet Earth BD for a long time. This was the original page :

Looks like this could be a new version rather than a straight re-issue, as the new page says there's 5 discs not 4!

If they did re-encode it and got rid of all the macroblocking and compression noise I would buy it again. Because overall PE looks spectacular! Keeping my fingers crossed...

And so much for people at customer care being informed. I wrote to BBC about a possible release in Europe. They said there is no such thing planned...
