PQ wise? I've read really bad reviews for the video and even some places saying the DVD has less problems. Anyone here been able to compare the two? Thanks!

I haven't officially seen the DVD with my own eyes, but the Blu does have a lot of problems. One which has occurred with me has been the grain. Now I love grain in films and TV, but this is like an excess amount of grain, enough to make the picture look really awful and hurts the eyes. You can find the blu cheaper though. It might be worth looking into.

The review on this website (which can be read here) does acknowledge the flaws within the transfer but does go on to say that it is still better than it's DVD counterpart.
So if you're looking for a great transfer you won't find it in the blu-ray. BUT it is still the best transfer.. |

I do not own the dvd set, but the Blu-ray set looks pretty awful. I would call it the worst looking television release on BD yet. The original cinematography of the show was cheap to begin with, but Warner did an awful job of compressing it. The only justification for getting it is that it can be had relatively cheaply.

Agreed, I have watched both the DVD and Blu-ray (thanks to the Blu-ray being released 3 months after the DVD) and while the Blu-ray isn't great it's much better than the DVD. It's nowhere near the quality of Lost but it is a worthwhile purchase, especially for a pretty cheap price.

Is it the best we will see? Yes. Is it the best we want to see? No, Nothing is perfect.

Exactly. The pilot was the only episode shot on better cameras/film. It's has very little chance of being that great looking, but it is a great show and still an improvement over the regular broadcast. I haven't gone through it all on DVD and BD yet (I have both), so I can't really compare, but I still think it's a no-brainer buy due to the quality of the show itself.

Yeah... that's very true. Grain is much more apparent on blu-ray. But what it sounds like grain is the least of the issues. I mean it didn't get 2/5 on this site solely because of grain. At least it got lossless audio, right?
