Default Need Recommendation on how to spend $2000

The room is 20x20. The current Sony HTIB just crapped out and am looking for something better. The wife wants Bose but they seem to be expensive and from what I read here they are ok but way over priced. The only restriction that I have(Orders from the boss..I mean wife) is that the front and rear speakers need to be on the wall and must be satellite ones which kind of limits what I can do.

I need a receiver, 2 front/rear, center and subwoofer. Please help. Also are the Polk RM95 speakers any good?

Thanks,

Lou

Hi Lou,

For your speakers consider the Axiom brand, the Epic master 350 seems to fit your budget and room well ... http://www.axiomaudio.com/epicmaster350.html

For your receiver a Yamaha on special at Audioholics . . .
http://store.audioholics.com/section...ound-receivers

Free shipping from both companies !

Happy shopping !

Nothing wrong with those polks...... but you're talking about $2,000 here..... if the wife says spend $2k.... why disappoint

Here is what I would do..... keep in mind, you should audition speakers for yourself.......

AVR (this depends on if your player decodes the audio or not also)

http://www.accessories4less.com/make...urround/1.html

for $300

or

http://www.accessories4less.com/make...urround/1.html

for $350

FIVE of these....

EDIT:

THESE PASS THE WIFE's "Aesthetics Test" for sure! (also available in Black)

http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/displa...fid=1183&sc=ht

You can get them for $200 each probably if you buy a set of five from a dealer...... They retail for $225 each however.....

Then you need a sub....

This for $350

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=892

Or you could get one of the B&W subs that match for $500 if you really want to keep the "look" uniform.... I have been very impressed by B&W subs.... but never at the price for which they are sold..... I would look elsewhere for subs.... but like I said, if the "Look" is important, then this one is $500 (it's the AS2)

So... AVR for $350, Sub for $350, and Speakers for $1,000 Add tax cables, etc.... I'd guess you'll be looking at $1,850 or so (no tax for the AVR/Sub)

But like I said.... go out and listen to some stuff.

EDIT:

By the way, I have five of the B&W M-1s in my bedroom setup..... no Blu-ray in there (it died) but the sound fantastic to me..... No sub though... don't really want one (or wife doesn't) in the bedroom.....

I will throw a vote in for the Def Tech ProCinema Series. This Will leave enough room for a nice Denon receiver.

As always make sure to audition speakers before you buy.
