Default Blu-ray films on a DVD player?

Hi there,

I have a 1080p television and a regular pioneer 1080p dvd player (not blu-ray). My questions is will blu-ray dvd's play on my dvd player? Also, since it's not a blu-ray dvd player what kind of picture resolution can I expect?

Your response is appreciate it.

Thx

Welcome to the thread. DVDs are "upscaled" to fit right on 1080p tvs. The picture wont look bad but no where colse to blu-ray. Yes all blu-ray players play dvds.

Blu-ray disc (not dvd) will not work with any DVD player. If you have any other questions this forum is the best place to ask it.

NO! Your DVD player WILL NOT play blu-rays. They are not blu-ray dvds, they are Blu-ray discs. You will need to upgrade to a blu-ray player. Blu-ray is a new format, the discs may look similar but they are completely different aside from that.
There are many players out now, and many more on the way. I reccommend looking around, use the search function. There are plenty of reccommendations for good players on this forum.

I (and most of us on here) reccommend the PS3 for blu-ray playback.

No your Pioneer DVD player won't be able to playback a Blu-ray Disc. Get a PS3 from Amazon and start enjoying. Here's the link.

Your dvds will play in a blu-ray player but blu-ray disks won't play in a dvd player. Welcome to the world of blu-ray!!!!
