Bar Owners.....Opinions Please!!! - Blu-ray Forum

w/x-mas coming up fast and my b-day not long after that (12/31), i told my wife i want nothing but home depot gift cards so i can build my bar finally.

i'm looking for suggestions/opinions on things to keep in mind when planning and building the bar. i'm also hoping to build some cabinets & what not for behind the bar to keep the booze on.

having a wet bar is not an option w/where i'd be putting it.

so what do u guys like about your bars, what don't you like, what do you wish was different.

only thing i'm for sure on @ this time is the top will be bottle caps w/that clear resin over the top...other than that, i'm all ears.

does anyone have their bar set up w/taps?? how difficult is that?? no one i know that has a bar has taps at all.

I have a kegerator by my bar, but don't have the taps going through the bar. Much easier when it comes time to clean the lines and replace things.

Why not get a pair of these, and build the bar so these are enclosed in the bar, on a riser etc... so they are at "bar level" but also make them removable for future repairs etc. if needed... (not necessarily the one I linked, since they are a lot cheaper elsewhere, it was just the first google search)

Would be pretty easy to plug them both into a power-strip under the bar, and have a the bar-top allow just the tap to stick out, and build a drain-gate directly into the top......

I know I know.... more work.... but it's the details that make it all worth it in the end.

if you are looking for bottle caps, check ebay, i bought a bunch there for hella cheap, im planning on doing the same thing you are when i finally get around to it, so i figured id start collecting now, and i found people selling them like 100 for $10 or less

i've been collecting since my wife told me she was collecting them for the same thing.....way back when we were dating 8 years ago!!!

and everyone in my family has been keeping them for me so when i finally get the bar done, if i have any left over, i'll keep you in mind and let you know.

i've pulled out all of the bent and dented ones so they are all in great condition.

my ma actually got me a big box off of ebay of ones that were never put onto bottles!!!

Putting in taps can be expensive & time consuming but it's some of the best beer you'll ever tase at home.

If you need / want any bottle tops from the UK give me a shout.

reviving another old thread of mine....this time i'm looking for some help/direction.

since my basement is done.....and still standing....

.....i need some help on finding different plans on building a bar.

does anyone know of any sites that will give me a basic design of how to build a bar??

2x4's aren't expensive so i'm thinking i can start framing it out and slowly add to it as time goes on or as money comes in.

was cleaning up the attic area and found all the bottle caps I've been collecting or my bar......so me & my wife sorted them all out this afternoon.

it may not look like a lot but you can see the tote w/bags on the far end of the table.....those are ones that have been sorted already.
