Default Exclusives for Star Trek?

I haven't anticipated any blu release as much as this one and I want to find the best version/deal out there.

I have seen some exclusives like the badges thingy at Best Buy which looks kinda silly. Wal-mart has the three disc version including the DVD and digital copy like the Disney flicks, which is pretty neat.

Any others that have been spotted? This is going to be like Wizard of Oz all over again; for me anyway.

But it does look a lot better than the standard bluray cover.

Indeed this thread should list all the Retailers Releases so BD Shoppers can get the right one.

If I was willing to splurge on this movie (and I'm not, though I enjoyed it a lot) I would go with the Amazon Germany exclusive set, the one where the blu-ray discs themselves go inside the Enterprise miniature.

That's the neatest one I've seen.

So the Play.com steelbook is about $30. That isn't terrible. However, no shipping to the US; so there's that little snag for some of us.

http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/3-/0...p=1&dpr=384971

The Wal-Mart one says it is an exclusive, we believe that it includes a DVD copy of the film as well as the digital copy. Four discs total.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12535635

Best Buy release. I can't tell how many discs are included. I guess it is three like the others.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....95&PID=2779820

This is the Exclusive from Best Buy. It says this one has three discs, so digital copy plus the badge thingies.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....74&PID=2779820

Target also has the three disc version.

http://www.target.com/Star-Special-D...i_detailbutton

Three-disc edition from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.ht...&creative=9325

Pricey Amazon exclusive with metal Enterprise statue.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.ht...&creative=9325

These are the sites that I am familiar with. Please add others if something appears.

I found a cool custom cover that fits in with all of the films that have been released in the sets thus far. Thanks to our own aggienader08 for creating it. (note: for the 7mm thin cases)

It comes with a dvd copy of the film. So actually it is a 4-Disc set.

The digital copy isn't exclusive.

I'll be getting the Walmart one and splitting the cost with a friend of mine who still uses dvds

I see three disc set on just about every one of them. If one of those three are not the DVD and one is the digital copy, what is the other one? Are all of the special features on it, because I haven't seen evidence of that?

Mistake on Walmart's website, they have all the bonus features of the second BD in the set as on Disc 1 only.

That makes sense. I just had to replace their link because they mixed up the blu and DVD releases. Description on the site is still wrong though.

I went and track down the info:

Walmart's site:

Quote:
Disc 1: Blu-ray(TM) Version of Feature Film;
"A New Vision";
"To Boldly Go";
"Casting";
"Aliens";
"Score";
"NASA News" Via BD-Live;
"Star Trek(R) D-A-C Free Trial Game for XBOX 360(R)";
"Star Trek(R) D-A-C Free Trial Game for PC";
"Star Trek(R) D-A-C Free Trial Game for Playstation(R) Network";
"Starships";
"Planets";
"Props and Costumes";
"Ben Burtt and the Sounds of 'Star Trek'";
"Gene Roddenberry's Vison";
"Starfleet Vessel Simulator"

And here's the actual arrangement of the features as per the Paramount announcement:

Quote:
Disc 1

* Commentary
* NASA News (BD-exclusive)

Disc 2

* To Boldly Go
* Casting
* A New Vision
* Starships (BD-exclusive)
* Aliens
* Planets (BD-exclusive)
* Props and Costumes (BD-exclusive)
* Ben Burtt and the Sounds of Star Trek (BD-exclusive)
* Score
* Gene Roddenberry's Vision (BD-exclusive)cenes with optional commentary
* Starfleet Vessel Simulator (BD-exclusive)
* Gag Reel

Disc 3

* Digital Copy
* Star Trek D-A-C Free Trial Game for XBOX 360
* Weblink to the Star Trek D-A-C free trial game for PC
* Weblink to the Star Trek D-A-C free trial game for PlayStation Network

So if they do have a DVD included, it will have to be a 4-Disc set.

Ahh. So those are the three discs that we can expect to see on the standard blu releases.

Yep.

All this retailer exclusive stuff can get pretty confusing for some people...

Much simpler when everyone just sales the same thing.

But I do like when they include a DVD since I can split the cost with my friend who is buying the DVD version of the film anyway

Play.com doesn't ship to the U.S.
