United Kingdom Elektra

I noticed that Elektra was released in the UK on 10/19. Did anyone get a copy yet?

I just sampled the disc a bit, mainly because I wanted to check out which version of the film this is. I never saw it before, but I found odd that the cover mentions 95 minutes when the Imdb lists both cuts of the film as longer than this.

The actual running time of the film on the disc is 1:39:50, so it seems this is the director's cut.

Regarding the extras, besides what's listed on my previous post, there's an audio commentary track, a theatrical trailer and a teaser trailer.
It's not clear from the listing on the outside of the package, but what's listed as "The Mythology, Elektra: Incarnations, Elektra in Greek Mythology" is actually 2 different documentaries (owners of the dvd probably know this, but I didn't). In all there's about 4 hours of video extras on the disc, since the 2 parts of The Making of Elektra run well over 2 hours, Elektra: Incarnations runs nearly 1 hour, and there's a few more extras.

I've been wondering if it's region-free. And if it has all these extras, and decent quality, I'll gladly buy a copy soon!

Al_The_Strange, the info I posted regarding region code is, like I stated, what's on the outside of the package (and the actual disc also has regions A, B and C printed). But there's been a few releases in the past that list all codes but are in fact region locked, so maybe you should wait for actual confirmation from someone who's capable of checking out the actual disc's code.

So it is the DC? Can someone confirm? I really want the DC of Elektra - it only got released in NTSC previously, which I try to avoid.

I just checked the BBFC, and the studio actually had the theatrical and DC versions approved back in 2005, but the DC never got released in the UK? How bizarre.

I'd seriously appreciate any confirmation. I've been hanging out for the DC of this for some time.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I'll wait and keep an eye on it.

While like I said I'm not familiar with the film, I think it's pretty safe to say it's the DC that's included on this BD. First, the running time of the film on the disc matches the running time I've seen listed for the DC (the theatrical cut is approximately 97 minutes, and the DC is nearly 100; on this BD the film has a running time of 1:39:50, and not the 95 minutes that's listed on the outside of the package). Second, it includes a commentary track that was only featured on the DC DVD release, so it probably was recorded to match this cut of the film.
I should also add that even the extras included are pretty much the same as the previous DC DVD release, and most (such as the "Relentless: The Making of Elektra" parts 1 & 2 documentaries, and "Showdown at the Well: Multi-angle Dailies") were not present in releases with the theatrical cut.

Thanks. That sounds about right then.

its definitely the directors cut and it also includes the deleted scene with Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck as Daredevil).

Fox are well know in the UK for listing the wrong runtimes in the UK on the blu-ray packaging.

I'm holding out for a North American release, too. I haven't seen any rumours on the internet, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get this one in 2010. I have been seeing a lot of Elektra single-disc SD DVDs in clearance bins for as low as $4.99 for months. I feel like I see that frequently, huge clearance sales before the new editions come out.

Yeah, I thought the PQ was pretty good - I didn't notice any faults. I don't have a HD audio setup so can't comment on AQ
