Recently, projectorcentral reviewed the mitsubishi hc 3800, from the looks of it, its one of the best values around and a high end performer when compared to similar models. Although it was recently released, does anyone have it, and would you recommend this model. I currently own a 720p mitsubishi 1500 projected on a 65 inch screen.
However, I've recently purchased a 96 inch screen due to black friday savings, and was wondering if it was worth forking out the 1300 dollars to get it. Yes, its 1300! With vast improvements over the optoma 1000 dollar model. Its a dlp chip though, which is fine with me since I prefer the filter free chipset anyways. Post up! I need to make my decision soon, how much of an improvement in picture would I get on a 96 inch screen? |

Might want to hold off for now is the "shut-off" issue some of the units are having. Mitsi. says there is a fix but it's not known if it's a firmware or hardware fix. Newer projectors should be fine but there is no way right now to find out which of the older projectors are effected...

Pretty much the entire movie of Star Trek looked absolutely flawless on the projector, there was a bit of coloring issues with darks, but the projector isn't fully calibrated yet. Over all, the picture quality is amazing and the speed at which it displays prevents any detectable rainbow effect. With my old projector, I would notice these things. With cars, the beginning scene is...jaw dropping. I couldn't find any flaws. Overall, I give this projector 5 stars, and I highly recommend this model to anyone, totally worth the money over the 999 versions of the optoma which I've demoed before. The 1.5x zoom is also pretty useful, as it comes with quite a decent amt of features. A worthwhile upgrade imo.
