Ok . . . I REALLY don't want this to come off as a "When is this coming out on Blu-ray" threads. But, I have a question about Indiana Jones and its future on BD. I know Lucas has said that his films wouldn't be coming out until there is a clear winner. However, I know the Indiana Jones films were distributed by Paramount . . . so in this case, who has more pull? I would imagine that if Lucas doesn't want Lucasfilm to fix up the movies to put them out, he doesn't have to, but then again, they've already been remastered for DVD. So who pulls the trigger on this one, Paramount or Lucas?

Who on earth is Obi Won???
Lucas will have final say. It would be nice for Indy to come out next year, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I think they'll appear before Star Wars though. |

Remember, Star Wars would be one of the ultimate weapon for this war, whoever gets it out first will most likely to become victorious in the long run... I think Lucas knows it too and he rather sees the better format to win and not base on the releases.
Or hes just holding off till the demand is skyhigh on the HD market for Star Wars and Indy, then release 5 different cuts and sets in a year to make a load of cash. Personally Im hoping for the former, but Im thinking the latter... |

What I don't get is, Lucas is a cat who's all about technology. THX was developed to ensure that his films were presented in a way that met his standards. So . . . wouldn't Blu-ray be the obvious choice in this matter? With his releases of Star Wars on DVD (more specifically, the half-assed non-anamorphic original trilogy), it's been proven that he's really not looking at what consumers want, so I don't get why he doesn't just pick the format that works the best for his films and tell HD DVD to f-off. He could single handedly pick the winner that he's waiting for.

Ok, correct me if Im wrong guys, but Im gonna go back to the VHS vs Betamax war on this. I remember when I was a kid, I went to a video rental store and I saw Star Wars on VHS. At the time, my family only had betamax, and I begged and plead with my parents to get the movies cuz the name just sounded cool

Star Wars is all Lucas, but Indiana Jones is both Spielberg and Lucas. So who's to say really. Indy may not come out till next year after the 4th movie has it's theatrical run, which could mean the holiday season of 08. We had a Betamax too. It had better PQ, but because VHS was cheaper, it sold more units.
