Default The Simpsons Movie review

Went to go see the simpsons movie. It was awesome. If you like the simpsons you can't miss this movie. Overall I give this movie an 8.5. You can't miss it. This movie along with 'live free or die hard' and 'spiderman 3' are my favorite movies so far this year. Watch it!

That's good to hear since I have read in many places that it was a bit disappointing. I have been looking forward to seeing this but had recently been kind of second guessing on going to the theatres to see it with the bad reviews out there...

...but then again what do you expect from movie critics

I'm surprised. The critics over there usually give good movies crappy reviews. Perfect example would be Transformers among many others

This, Transformers and Spider Man 3 are my favorite movies of the summer. Like someone said earlier, this movie is a must see if you're a Simpsons fan.

The Simpsons died the day Family Guy premiered.

Well, that's not necessarily fair. It was dead once I graduted from middle school like six years ago

I have to agree. Family guy pretty much owns the simpsons by far. Don't get me wrong, I like the simpsons, but they are a bit dated

Sweet!

Wow, that's amazingly high considering how unoriginal a Simpsons movie is. One of the reasons sequels have a tough time with critics and fans is that the magic of the initial originality can't possibility be recaptured. Revisiting is obviously unavoidably derivative.

That is: Familiarity breeds contempt.

Family guy is sooo overated. It had 2 good seasons. Doesnt hold a candle to the Simpsons or South Park.

Both the Simpsons and South Park have outstayed their welcome and just painfully limped on. Family Guy should end soon too, just to keep from lingering like the other two.

The Simpsons kill Family Guy any day of the week. Family Guy is the biggest Simpsons rip off I have ever seen. On topic, really looking forward to the movie, planning to see it tonight.

I was wrong earlier today when I told a friend that I had checked fandango multiple times yesterday, it didn't seem like the Simpson's movie was selling out and I predicted that it would bring in about $40 million this weekend. Then I saw the numbers for the first day (not sure if they counted 11:59 PM showings Thursday night) and the estimate is over $29 million for Friday. So, seems like it should pass $65 million for the weekend. Based on the reviews and the number for Friday I believe this one will hit $200 million in the US. I had honestly thought that Fox was going to have a weak summer after reading some early info on the Simpson's movie a couple of months ago, but seems like their summer is actually going pretty well. I think Live Free or Die Hard exceeded many people's expectations both critically and at the box office so far. The 2nd Fantastic Four movie didn't do too well with the critics, but did bring in over $120 million.

family guy is funnier than the Simpson's last 6 or 7 seasons, but NOTHING beats the first twelve or so seasons of the simpsons. No show even comes close to touching the simpsons' earlier stuff. Some of my favorite episodes includes the ones in which Conan was writing. Simpsons is number one and family guy is a distant second. Third? maybe south park.

The wife and I went to go see The Simpsons Movie tonight, and I was not impressed. I should've known it would be going downhill when, at the very beginning, Homer cracks a joke about people paying for something they can watch at home for free.

The movie had its funny bits, but pound-for-pound it was like watching a very long, very mediocre episode. All the cliche jokes were there, but I'd highly recommend that unless you are a DIEHARD Simpsons fan, wait for the rental.
