I want to get "The Hurt Locker" and "Moon" next week. If I preorder now via Amazon, it'll be around $50. But does Amazon usually lower prices the day of release, or even a couple days after release date? If I can save $10, I'd opt for that.
Thanks! |

If Amazon lowers the price anytime between now and release day (*including* release Tuesday), they'll credit you the difference.
In my experience, the price may drop on release day (and you'll get that $$ back), but it's unlikely to drop further within a couple of days. But it's random... just checking the price fluxation graphs here on this site shows that tracking prices on Amazon is much like tracking stocks. Lots of changes and no real way to predict. |

Having ordered hundreds of items off Amazon in the past decade, it does not pay to pre-order from them unless you jump on a pricing mistake when the listing is first made. I would counsel you to wait at least one day after the movies are released. Amazon often price matches on release date the sales of Target and Best Buy.
With no post-order price guarantee anymore, pre-ordering from Amazon benefits no one but their profits now. Patience is a virtue... |

I've tried several times to get the price difference on a change in price within 12 hours of my order having shipped. This means that (as an example) in a single day, at 12pm my item shipped. At 7pm the price changed. At 9pm I e-mail them to get an adjustment. Each time they refer me to their price guarantee policy and tell me that there is no way for them to credit me for a the difference since it has reached the "shipped" status. Ive noticed that they drop the price for titles a few days before the release or sometimes the week before. Luckily I have a 50 dollar gift card as I to plan on ordering both of those titles. I think I only have to pay like 58 cents out of my own pocket. But lets hope each title drops to 20-22 each.
