I've noticed a trend over the last couple of months at the local Wal-Mart (local being Fort Scott, KS, a town of less than 8000), that being that whenever there is a major Blu release, it ends up in the PS3 game case, and sometimes on the racks with the regular DVDs. I noticed tonight when I had to drop into the Sapulpa, OK Wal-Mart to get a phone charger that they had the same thing.
Thus far every Wal-Mart in my area has received X3, Gridiron Gang, Night At The Museum, Ghost Rider, Bridge To Terebithia, Premonition, and now 300. Granted, they don't carry them all at once - the remaining copies of the first 3 I mentioned are gone from most stores around here, but every Wal-Mart (Super Centers at least, that is all we have in the area) around has at least the last 4 I mentioned - not a big stock of them by any means, but not just a handful either. |

The problem with the Walmarts of the world is that whilst it does'nt make bad sense to stick stuff within the confines of the PS 3 section I've no doubt that any Blu-Ray copies in the regular DVD section would have been bought by some unsuspecting mum etc that would have been returned it for now being able to play on the family DVD playe and until they actually get they're collective butt's into gear and demo and promote the differences to DVD it'll be years before we see any meaningful sales in those kind of places.

I work for a local Wal Mart(Fishers, IN) and we keep all the BD releases in the regular DVD section. I think we are supposed to be getting a demo display, although I am unsure as to when that might be. We do have behind the electronics counter, a few BD movies, and a few demo discs from Fox. It's just a matter of time when the Home Office decides what to do next.

My two local Wal-Mart’s have a demo display for Blu-ray and HD DVD about 40 of each, they were just installed last week.
