Default Mass Effect 2

How awesome is this game?! I'm loving it. I'm almost done with my first playthrough. I imported my character from the first ME so it was pretty easy to go through most of the game. I'm about to go through the Omega 4 Relay. It's crazy the situation they put you through before then. I think before I go through the relay I want to scrounge up some minerals to upgrade the rest of my ship and ge tother upgrades first. Man, I can't wait to go play through the game a second time.

If Heavy Rain doesn't do it then this is game of the year for me.

This is perhaps one of the few games that screams out "This is why you need to by an Xbox 360!" The game looks fantastic, and the gameplay is smooth. I'm thinking of getting it on PC, just to stay safe until the Unreal Engine 3.5 is compatible for the PlayStation 3. Otherwise, great game. I think you should start a mega-thread for this.

How much in the dark would you be if you were to go into this game blind?

I've yet to play it (still trying to finish ME1), but everything that I've read suggests playing through ME1 first, as you can import your character, and decisions made in ME1 will be represented in ME2.

I picked up ME1 for $10 used at GS. I've read that it's a 15 hour playthrough if you focus on the main storyline missions.

Just get the first Mass Effect if you can. I beat the first one in about 20 hours and the second will probably take you 30 if you can.

Hands down this is one of the best games I've ever played.

I have it, but I have yet to start playing it because I was still finishing up another game and now Bioshock 2 is out. I will be sure to get to it eventually though as I loved the first one, and it has Yvonne Strahovski doing the voice of Miranda.

I'm currently playing through my second playthrough. Went through once with a Paragon Male Shepard. Going through as a Renegade Female Shepard, and it's hilariously awesome. I absolutley love this game, and I firmly believe this is the absolute best the 360 has to offer. My favorite game of all time, and it's not even close. Well, Mass Effect 1 comes close

I'd focus on the side missions as well as a lot of characters from ME1's side missions show up in ME2. After finishing ME2, i went back to ME1 because I'd forgotten all the choices I made and who everyone was.

I was a soldier in ME1 and that was pretty good, but didn't enjoy it as much in ME2. Think I'm going to try infiltrator next.

I definitely agree with this. The characters from side quests show up in ME2 as well, and it just adds to the experience. ME1 was a great game in its own right, and you shouldn't feel rushed to finish it just to get to ME2. Take your time and enjoy it!

I went with Vanguard for my first playthrough, and that was fun. Went with Sentinel for my second, and man this is a powerful class. I went with Reave for a bonus power, which I think is better than warp. So having Reave/Overload plus Tech Armor makes for a really powerful character.

I'm a Vanguard as well. Defiitely awesome. I played as a Soldier in ME1 and switched to Vanguard here. Definitely a worthwhile change. The best of being a soldier with the best of being a Biotic. I think it's awesome.

Right now, I'm doing a Paragon male Shepherd too. I think I'll be a renegade female next too.

Well, I think you guys just convinced me to take my time with ME1. It had sounded like from what I read that only the main story missions carried over to ME2.

Now, I started ME1 as a soldier. Can I switch class after importing to ME2? Or am I stuck being a soldier?

You'll be able to switch class when you import it from ME1.

No, you can switch classes once you start ME2

I think it's almost a requirement to play ME1 before ME2. You miss like half the experience without it.

Infiltrator was what I chose and it's pretty cool. I'm not sure what I'll do for my second attempt though. I'm currently replaying ME1 as a paragon to carry over to ME2. I originally did both games as a full blown renegade.

Also, I completely agree that this is one of the greatest games ever. It's absolutely fantastic.

been playing this game nonstop on my pc. it's awesome, but i have to say, it's piss-easy compared to ME1. i breezed through my first playthrough as a paragon male shepard on normal... i'm doing it again on insanity as female shepard this time, and most of the fights aren't really that much harder (you just can't be stupid and charge anymore, need to use cover) except for the damned husks and abominations. armor on these guys is a ***** when they charge you.

I just started playing ME1 (about 4 hours in), and I'm loving it so far. There's rarely a dull moment. I hear ME2 takes out all the negatives of ME1 and amplifies the positives. I can't wait to play it, but for now, I'm going to enjoy the prequel.

Just beat ME2 this morning. Amazing end. Beat it as a Paragon Male Shepherd. That boss was pretty awesome stuff. Kind of easier than I thought, but still fun. Now, I'm going to go through as a renegade female Shepherd. See how much I can get done before Heavy Rain comes out.

I still have not picked this up yet. I was anticipating its release for a long time and found myself unable to afford it on release day

Mass Effect was not the first RPG i have played but it is by far the best. I have no regrets with the blind buy i did on this game (eb was selling it for $8 last June) and i can't believe how much fun it has been. I played it through 3 times..the third i completed well over 90% doing all side missions and finding all the rare earths and elements throughout the galaxy. I think there is still 1 or 2 things i need to do still but it's hard finding some of the stuff.

I am very much looking forward to putting 80+ hours into Mass Effect 2 and getting it 100% complete.

Interesting, I actually found combat to be a bit more challenging this time around. I felt ME1 was a little bit easier. As an adept, you could just spam a TON of powers and throw/lift/singularity at just about everyone on the battlefield, while having others in your squad just pick them off.
