Why are movies released in Australia before America - Blu-ray Forum

Just wondering why we get blu-ray movies before America does as most theatrical releases are released after Americas.

Not sure. Might have something to do with the international dateline. Though I can never remember if you guys are a day ahead or a day behind.

Sorry, I really have no idea why.

A day ahead but Wizard of oz has been out since christmas.

I believe the Wizard of Oz came out in the US in late Nov/early Dec as well.

Just looking at the upcoming releases section they tell me release dates and some movies aren't out yet unless they are not accurate release dates.

Also STARDUSTis being released in Australia on 04 MAR and no release date in the states for that one or are they a bit slow at updating these things.

maybe its down to the individual distributors for the respective territories
