Exclamation Switching Input Takes 10 Seconds?

I just noticed this issue and it's bothering me. I have FIOS and the cable box is using HDMI. It goes directly to the TV. HDMI1. My PS3 is HDMI2.

Now, turning the tv on - it takes 10 seconds before a picture is show on the screen. Never took that long before. Switching to input HDMI2 (PS3), the image comes up in about 1 or 2 seconds. Like it should. Almost instant. Switching back to HDMI1 - FIOS - again 10 seconds. So I don't think it's the TV.

Any ideas what might be causing this problem? It's annoying as hell.

I just swapped HDMI ports on everything and it's still the same. So no, not the tv or the ports. Appears to be an issue with the box. Very strange.

Suck it up. Verizon has the best video quality around.

No, but really, try swapping out the box. If the new one does that same thing, it's probably just their box taking time to hand shake with the TV.

I run into this on my cable box (Bright House). Not sure if it is what you're experiencing, but I'll help as best as I can (at least as far as I understand it).

Some of the broadcasts in my area are 1080i, while others are 720p. Whenever I would change channels, and the signal resolution changed, it would take like 5 seconds before the picture shows on the screen. I fixed this by going into the settings on my cable box and deactivating the 720p option. Now everything is forced into 1080i, so the resolution never changes. All of my channels change much faster now.

Hope that helps!

Why not force it to 720p since most channels are native 720p?

Because the 720p signals look worse. I could always tell a 720p signal right away. Native or not, the 1080i signal looks better. It might not make a difference on smaller sets, but on mine the difference was very noticeable.

This is just the nature of technology. My Integra 9.9 can take up to 25 seconds to power up.

It takes awhile for your cable box to sync the picture to the signal thats its receiving(480p,720p,1081i signal)then pass it thru to the TV...

Direct TV used to take forever, but with firmware updates the time have gotten much better...

Here's the cavet, it never used to do this. The picture, when I turned on the tv was up in about 2 seconds if that. Now I get to stare at a black screen and blue input box for 10 seconds. Changing channels on the cable box do not cause any issues.
