Moviegoer is stabbed after complaining about cellphone user
A meat thermometer was plunged into the victim's neck during a screening of 'Shutter Island.' An L.A. County sheriff's spokesman called it a 'vicious and cowardly attack.'
By Richard Winton

March 10, 2010

A dispute at a Lancaster movie theater during a screening of "Shutter Island" ended with someone plunging a meat thermometer into the neck of the man who complained about someone sitting near him talking on a cellphone during the show.

The incident occurred two weeks ago at the Cinemark 22 theater, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The theater was packed for a 9 p.m. Saturday screening of the Martin Scorsese film when the moviegoer complained about a woman near him using a cellphone.

The woman and two men with her left the theater. But sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said two men returned a few minutes later and stabbed the victim.

"It was a vicious and cowardly attack," Whitmore said. The victim, who was not identified, was hospitalized with serious wounds.

Two moviegoers who came to the victim's aid were also hurt during the fight, officials said.

The suspects are still at large. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Lancaster sheriff's station at (661) 948-8466.

Perhaps they were checking to see if that guy was hot under the collar?

But seriously, that is ridiculous....over a cell phone too. And who carries a meat thermometer with them anyway? Did they go home and get it and then come back for him.....WTF????

All this time I've never known why I bring my meat thermometer with me when I go to the movies.

This would be better if the lady on the phone was the one that ended up with the "speed hole"

Brings back a memory that happen a couple years back...I stay in nice/clean suburb city about 30 mins away from SF. 1 nite @ the Imax theater in my town I recall watching the previews of upcomming movies just before the main feature started....in comes walking some scrub with 2 drama queens just mouthing off loud muthaF dis/muthaF me/ muthaF u (u get the picture) and the loudness of their rants seem to irritate a group of ladies sitting 3 rows ahead which caused for a "Ssshh..be quiet" and in response the scrub which I will name -Beetlejuice barked "shut yo @ss up..shhhhh*t I will talk as loud as I want" just then this huge guy (could have been a linebacker) sitting in the back yelled out..." shut up and sit the f%cK down or get the f%ck out of the theater...dont bring that ghetto sh*t here...this isnt Oakland" the whole auditorium started clapping and cheering ( it was f#ck!ng great) haha . The scrub was quiet for the entire movie and you could hear the 2 girls tell him to shut up before he gets his @ss kicked

It's just going to get worse "more ghetto" as the Government takes over everything. During Ang Lee's Hulk some ghetto girl was talking on the cellular phone every 5 minutes. This one guy kept asking her to keep quiet. Finally about 30 minutes into the movie I told her to get her fat ass up and do her drug deal in the lobby I paid to hear the movie not her. She shut up finally after she mouthed a few insluts I told her to shut up or get out. There is no need for this crap. Home theater is the way to go.

That's why I usually hit the first showing on sat. morning if I can. Really cuts down on the jackasses but still get them every once in a while. Don't see to many ghetto types out and about by noon.

I prefer to stay on this side of the tracks. Once U pass 580 you better be strapped with a bullet proof vest and a 40oz to survive. I remember I went to a movie out in Richmond...like a prison riot broke out in that theater...no lie! I walked out of there with a gold grille and with a thug life tat..its infectious out there hahaha.
