Ususally the same time for new movies (more or less), though occasionally we get it a few weeks later, and sometimes a few weeks earlier. Sometimes we do get some catalogue releases that other counries have not yet got (Amelie), and vice versa.

Yeah we are definitley not considered 'slow' imo. Obviously some releases have the usual delay (Law Abiding Citizen for one), but thats probably down to the low success rate it had in the US, where they might try for a bigger take here in Aus/NZ before they try the BD.

Law Abiding Citizen did quite well didn't it (around $80 million in the us). I think it's just thew theatrical timming causing the difference (which no doubt was already confirmed before it was released anywhere, the same thing happened with Coraline).

For big stuff, we are competitive.

For lesser known stuff, we don't get much at all on Blu-ray where the DVD might come out here.

Kudos to Madman for starting to bring stuff to Australia: http://www.madman.com.au/actions/cat...d=16&sortKey=1

What about Taken, there's plenty of example such as this.

Or Star Trek - weeks ahead of it's release in the US. Plenty of good examples.

Yes, sometimes we're behind, but hey, we didn't make the movies, most of the box office didn't come from our country and our population doesn't buy as many titles per capita like the US (yet). We might like to think we're important, but in the scheme of things Australia is small time in relation to sales so sometimes things just take longer.

I for one am grateful that with Blu-ray most releases are region-free and therefore importable. You have a choice to buy cheaper if available from overseas, not to mention earlier.
