PSN Slow

OK I have a 10Mbit [UK] connection at home. Normally speeds are excellent However downloading stuff off the PSN takes AGES. Even just hangs or stops downloading.

I hope Sony improve their servers or something. I mean come on, a 700MB demo should take, what 70 seconds in theory, so why does it take like hours sometimes?!

Anyone else find its slow?

Usually, I would agree with you. But for some reason, when downloading my new content last night, it seemed MUCH faster that usual.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere a couple months ago about a lot of the main servers for content being located in Japan or something, with other distribution points slowing turning on around the world.

Yeah it is slow. However you're comparing MBytes to MBits, so the math is a bit off. It's actually 8bits per byte. To keep it simple just say 10bits per byte, so it'll take 700 sec at optimal conditions with a 10Mbit connection. I hope that helps. The PSN network, I've noticed is very slow too, especially at peak hours.
