Default slow!
I have recently bought a Sony BDP-S300 dvd player. Last night I attempted to play a rented blu-ray DVD. I thought it was broken because it wouldn't play the DVD. In fact after doing a little research I learned that it was just slow.

It took 3:50 to get to the first screen. To me this just isn't acceptable at any price. Why would they release a dvd player that fails to work well?

Firmware, ethernet? What the...I just want to plug it in and go like dvd's.

If I update my firmware to 3.0 will I see much difference?
