No distributor listed at the moment (will probably be EnterOne like the DVD). No specs other than English subs. No date.

I don't see how it could really compete with the US Tartan release, but if it is a better deal for Korean speakers, then there it is.

How about better transfer, nicer packaging? Let's hope so...

Preorder up. Peter Pan Pictures release. Oddly enough, it apparently contains the English dub as well.

usually expect domestic release of a film will at least try - and very often succeed - in giving best consideration to the presentation of a film. not a hard n fast rule, but a largely reliable one.

Please be aware that Peter Pan has a notorious reputation in Korea. Korea has a peculiar copyright law that allow films older than 50 years to go into public domain. Peter Pan has specialized in selling unlicensed, barebone "Ripped" blu-rays of older classic films such as Gone With the Wind (reported copied off US Warner release). Chances are this Korean release will also be "Ripped" version from one of many foreign releases.

I guess that would explain the English dub. They will probably just copy Tartan's disc. It is weird that the Korean release only uses a 5.1 track as oppose to the 7.1 though.

Edit - Only extras listed on the Korean version are 3 audio commentaries, which is the same as the original Tartan Blu-ray.

^What he said. I'm really interested in knowing if this is an improvement over the mediocre release we have over here.

The original US release by Tartan Video and the Trilogy release by Palisades Tartan (that doesn't even have lossless audio).

The transfer is lacking. Especially in comparison to the releases of Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance.

Nothing lacking about it.

It looks closest to the original Starmax DVD, colour wise, etc.
Before people whined about how it looked and they f**ked around with the colours and contrast.

That's the one the director himself was happiest with, even though Starmax tried to spin some sh*t about him approving the Korean Ultimate Edition transfer. He'd no say in the matter at all.

The original U.S. release was awesome. I don't know what you're talking about. I remember the release that came with the Vengeance Trilogy coming with only 2.0 audio. That was a huge problem...the original US release was an essential buy though. The transfer was excellent.

To bad someone doesn't have the Korean release to give some type of impressions on it.

The new Canadian release of the Vengeance Trilogy includes the DTS MA track on Oldboy. Other than that however, it's still the same "mediocre" release as the old Tartan U.S. disc.
