Default People Who Don't See the Blu-ray Difference

Does anyone else get people (mostly women) over to there house and you play them a Blu-ray movie and you hear the dreaded "I don't see a difference" phrase. I go through the roof every time people say that! What the hell can I do to make these see the light? I am about to slap the freckles off of people over this!

haha, yes it's happened to me before also. I usually answered them by telling them they should get their vision checked.

Just making sure, how big is your set?
All my friends has seen a difference, maybe people need glasses if they can't see the difference, seriously.

..people probably aren't coming over much lately huh?

seriously though-- I think most people can see the difference if you show the right blu-ray (most of them look great)
if somebody can't appeciate the difference then they simply don't care at all about picture quality. And those people exists in droves-- remember VHS and all the people that recorded movies in the EP mode to stretch 6 hours on a tape??

keep in mind, some peoples senses are not as keen or adept as us here at the forum. Some people, really cannot see or hear a difference. Its not stupidity or stubborness, its biology.

Oddly enough, I tend to "forget" about the quality of HD *UNTIL* I watch something on standard def, then I am reminded and question how I was able to tolerate this murky picture in the first place.

I don't really care. Most people who don't "get" it probably never will, they also tend to be people with a very superficial appreciation for filmmaking.

I was one of those people who recorded in EP. If you didn't you only got like 2 hours out of it!

Look at my collection. Which one do you suggest I show off?

It does seem to be people who think the Transformers' movies are the best thing put on film and Pulp Fiction is terrible. Where did these people come from?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I HONESTLY don't allow those people in. No, really, I'm very paranoid about getting ripped off, home-invaded, whatever, because I've been collecting since 1964, and there are just too many scumbags out there. So like my latest visitor...my son's father-in-law...my son told him to PLEASE keep his mouth shut about my stuff, and 2 minutes in to the first Blu Ray, he was fussing about the " third dimension " being " right in your face " and he was hooked !!!! My surround sound impressed him a few minutes after that.
Great guy, turned out we attended the same concerts back in the 70s, and had SO MUCH in common. That night, my son called and said his in;laws were discussing buying an HD TV, home theater set-up, Blu Ray, etc.

Well, I've shown Nightmare Before Christmas, that one had everybody impressed and it looks fantastic too!
Blade Runner is also one, but probably doesn't have much appeal to "regular" people
Any Pixar is a no brainer, the later Lost seasons are incredible, seriously incredible, almost like a window sometimes.
Inglourious Basterds is also one, incredible detail.
Iron Man, Speed Racer... Don't know, take your pick

I've heard "I don't like Blu-ray" lately. I don't know what that even means.

Maybe it’s because those women didn’t come over your house to watch Blu-ray. They came over for another reason….if you know what I mean.

I wouldn't worry about "Showing off" any of them..... you are just going to have to accept that some people just don't care....... If you have a conversation with someone about a Sitcom, and they say "oh I don't really find it funny... " do you spend the next hour trying to convince them that they should????

Just let it go..... not sure why you care.... just enjoy your movies.
