will one sub work for this size room or would I need to add a second?

One subwoofer, positioned in a corner about a foot away from the side walls, can definitely work. However, with one subwoofer, you may get an uneven bass sound across the room. At some points in the room, the bass sound will be too loud and at other points in the room, you may not hear a lot of bass.

Adding a second subwoofer is not about getting additional sound and SPL. Although a second subwoofer can increase the level of bass output in your room, the most important advantage of a second subwoofer is to get a more even and smoother bass sound across the room for all listening positions.

when in doubt go with 2... i did and im loving them..

+1. My 2nd PA-120 Sub arrived almost 2 months ago. IF you do go with the PA-120 Subs, you won't be disappointed.

i would like to clarify.. and piggyback on big daddy's post... one sub is good enough.. and i enjoyed it when i got it.. but because my space is so large.. the second o0ne just evened everything out.. they play lower and i dont have to use as much power to get them going..
