Default PS3 Screen Issue

Hey all,
I turned on my PS3 today and I noticed alot of things that just didnt look right. The bg i have is the Blast Factor image with the giant red shpere and the blue hexagons. Yesterday, the PS3 icons fit right into those little hex's. Today is a different story. The image itself, which is supposed to be1920x1080 isnt. The sphere looks stretched horizontally, and there areslim black bars at the top and bottom now. Also all of the wording for all of the icons is also stretched out horzontally, as is the "Press thePS button" grey bar that appears at the top. Ive tried a few things but nothing seems to be working. Any help or ideas on how to fix this is greatly appreciated. Thanksalot in advance.

Sorry about that.

THe PS3 is connected to my reciever thru an hdmi cable. The reciever is connectedto the tv in a hdmi to dvi cable. Its happening in both demos and full versions of games. This is also including the start up menu screen when you first turn the PS3 on. Movies that were previously filling the entire screen are not anymore.

well, it certainly does sound like a strange issue. Have you tried unplugging the ps3...all your HDMI cables and plug them back in...see if this isnt some kind of grounding issue?

could it be your tv? ...like, does it give a strange look on normal cable channels? what kind of tv are you using?

sorry I cant really think of much more things to try, ive never heard this problem before?

also, a good place to ask about PS3 is the playstation boards...

Well with one problem out of the way, i do have another question. I use the Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110 with my PC, is it possible to hook it up to my PS3? or do i need a bluetooth compatible mouse and keyboard?

If it has a USB dongle to receive the signal, then it should probably work. Try it and see - shouldn't take but a few minutes to attempt. You don't specifically need bluetooth hardware (in fact, I'd recommend against bluetooth, as I've heard about compatibility problems with some bluetooth devices with the PS3).

I wouldn't recommend against bluetooth unless you know a particular keyboard/mouse doesn't work. No dongle, no mess.
