Wink Future Shop Canada 2 to 1

Thought you would all like to know that in the Toronto area I now see Future Shop (a big Canadian chain) having 16 columns of their shelf for Blu-ray versus 8 columns for HD DVD.

And one of the sales guys I asked about the format war said that they are now selling a lot of Blu-ray standalone players. He also said that Blu-ray sales are exceeding HD DVD sales (we know) and that Blu-ray has more studio support (we know). It is nice to see a sales person who is on top of things.

Best Buy in the Toronto area has 1-to-1 shelf space for Blu-ray versus HD DVD. This has not changed since day one.

it sounds to me blu-ray standalones have really taken off despite higher prices. i got the same type of speil from my bestbuy. they had 1:1 shelf space but then added a blu-ray cubical in the middle of an aisle plus an endcab.

Now if they'd only offer movie prices even remotely close to the U.S. and I will buy them there

Same situation over here on the west coast of Canada. My local Future Shop has a dedicated Blu-ray section... no HD-DVD section to be found. The Best Buy here also has a lot more Blu-ray than HD-DVD.
