Default Got in an Argument with a Friend

Just to tell you what happened to me today, i was talking with a friend and he likes to debate everything i throw at him... (gonna send his resume to ESPN sports analysts)

I told him that the Sony Brand was maybe one of the Most if not the Most with extensive items and inventory from walkmans to todays Blu-ray including speakers, car stuff, radios, headphones etc... Against ?

Well he almost knocked me down with Yamaha and told me that has better quality... Do someone right here knows a brand with the more items, Company overall ?

Strictly electronics? If not, then 3M makes pretty much everything under the sun.

Sony has a huge medical equipment division that is multi-national and their high end TV/Movie cameras are widely used throughout the entire world as well.

Sony is a strong strong strong publicly traded company due to their diversity.

3M is also a great company but they deal in different arenas of mfg.

Non-electronics - Proctor & Gamble
Electronics - Possibly Phillips, bigger in the medical field than Sony.
Electronics/Non-electronics - General Electric

to correct you,

Non-electronics (as of yr 2007) - Walmart is the biggest company;

Medical field - Siemens is the biggest;

Strictly Electonics - Panasonic/松下電器産業株式会社/Matsushita/National

And ソニー株式会社/Sony Corporation, is indeed the biggest of them all if we consider every possible thing a company does, from record labels, movie production, entertainment industry, insurance company, banks, investment, elctronics, high tech develpment and support to other major companies around the world, etc.... SONY (like.no.other.) is the most comprehensive entertainment companies in the world

Yes, Panasonic is the worlds largest CE manufacturer.

Sony, as of last year, was the most trusted name in consumer electronics in the USA.

Sony, as of last year, was (also) the LEAST trusted name in consumer electronics in the USA. Go figure.

When you get into opinion about audio stuff, Yamaha tends to sit pretty high on the list when it comes to professional audio recording - studios, live sound, etc. But, on the CE side of things they don't have nearly the same impact. On the video side they are almost non-existent.

Sony, JVC, Panasonic... Those are huge names on the professional video side of things.

On the commercial side, it may suprise people how much Sanyo gear ends up in many places for front projection. Then it's a lot of Sony, Panasonic, and JVC, and others mixed in.

There are tons of companies that nobody has ever heard of that are also huge when you start talking about commercial electronics, or professional electronics instead of consumer gear.

Extron who?

At the end of the day, most of the big Japanese names have divisions of their products that are well outside of the CE realm and when considering business size, you kind of have to narrow it down a bit.

Mitsubishi! Watch it in the morning, then drive it to work!

Yes but the question was not which is the biggest, just simply who has more than Sony...specifically tangible items. Also Sony is not the largest of them all. General Electric is number 11 on the Fortune 500 Global list and Sony is number 69.

Also Wal-mart is retail and has nothing do with manufacturing...
