That's a pretty subjective question. Ten people will give you ten different answers.

Anyway, I use a 720p/1080i DLP projector and I am more than satisfied. That's my bias.

Very true, a million opinions.

I'm using the Sony 60A3000 and love it. But there are a lot of good tv's out there.

I have a Samsung 56" 1080p rear-projection DLP. Just watched Casino Royal on Blu-ray last night, and must say it was beautiful! Just make sure the HDTV is True High-Def at 1080p, not 1080i.

i have the panasonic 50" 700pz and am very impressed with the all round performance. what hifi and home cinema seem to rate it as well but at the end of the day, its a dear piece of kit but i thought it was well worth the rent!

I had a samsung 1080i tv about 2 years ago and had alot of problems with it. they replaced 2 light engines in it and almost a 3rd and then they decided to let me pick another tv out, so i went with the sony 60 inch sxrd xbr1 1080i.

but when i picke out the sony xbr1 last year the guy at best buy told me it was a 1080p tv and its not. it will upscale to 1080p native resolution. but then i went out and bought the panny blu ray player and went to set it up and the video source said it could not get a 1080p signal. so then i was upset and place seveeral calls to best buy and they shot me down every time. they stated it was a 1080p tv, but could not accept the signal. so i returned the panny blu ray player then and was waiting to find a buyer on my sony i have now and i have, but do some research before picking out my new 1080p tv. then i will buy a new blu ray dvd player. so my anticipation is great right now.

Seems like half the kids I talk to at Best Buy don't even know that there is a difference between 1080i and 1080p. I continually hear them telling people, "yeah, it's 1080". Then I look at what model they are talking about, and sure enough.. 1080i.

I am very happy with it. Still messing with all the settings though, I'll eventually have it calibrated but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

If you do decide on the Sony, get them to price match TechDepot. It's $2113 there which is at least $500 less than Best Buy.

well in a way yes.

I would personally get a sxrd over a dlp any day of the week. that stated for the price "low models" dlp are good for the money.

Just wish they'd create a proper 1:1 ratio for Mirrorixel.

ya i hear you on that one. i was totally led the wrong way last year. i mean i even told the guy there i wanted a 1080p tv so i could buy a blu ray player down the road to watch BD movies and he said ya this one will do it for you. so you can understand how mad i was when i found out.

i hate to say it but i originally tried a toshiba HD player and did not like it, then got a panny BD player and loved it until i found out my tv was not 1080p and is not giving me the best picture of the movie. i was a bit upset over that.

any opinions on the 65 inch mitsu 1080p or the sharp aquos plasma. my gut is to stick with sony or panasonic.

if u get a projection. go a3000 sony sxrd series.

BD player = 1080/24p
sxrd a3000 = 1080/24p

sxrd a3000 = also 120hz motionflow.

If u want a plasma. the KUROS from pioneer = exceptional. not sure on their prices personally tho.

TechDepot is OfficeDepot and nearly all OfficeDepot's have a kiosk where you can order their products. So....BB considers it a retail store.

I've had them match TechDepot several times.

Here's the link to the 60A3000 at Techdepot they matched for me:

thanks for your help, i will try it when i buy the new tv.

does anyone prefer plasma over lcd or dlp for 1080p BD clarity? some of the salesman at the stores told me that plasma tv's play the bb movies clearer and more accurate colors? any thoughts?

depends on the money if u can afford a sony xbr4 lcd u should get that one IMO.

If u want a plasma look at the KUROS series from pioneer.
if u want projection get the sxrd a3000 series. dont let them talk you into a deal for the a2020 series.

Now as for which one.. u should decide no one else.

If theres alot of direct sunlight in your room dont get projection.

U may not even want plasma in that case due to high reflections.

if its a basement theater room any would work but sxrd would be ur best for th money.

Really u should think about the situation and how its gonna be use dand then decide for yourself. dont ever let a sales person decide for you

hey thanks for that. no i would not let e salesman decide for me, but i like opinions and like to hear what people like and what 1080p tv is going to show off the quality of bd movies the best. i really had my sights on the panny 50" 700u plasma and its come down in price from $3500 to $2999 now and sometimes on sale for $2800 or so. but i dont think i can go down in size from a 60 inch to a 50 inch. my wife is not happy about reducing the size of the tv to a 50 inch, she like the 60 inch, but will go with whatever i want to get.

my hometheater is in a finished basement with really no natural light other than lamps, but i ususally turn them off during movies. i love my sony sxrd xbr1 now, but its not true 1080p, so i have a guy that wants to buy it from me, so i am hoping it works and i can buy a 1080p and get my blu ray palyer and be in with all you guys to enjoy the best format BLU RAY of coarse!!!
