Default Biggest obstacle to Blu winning the war

After hearing the sales figures for SD DVD, Blu-ray, and hd-dud, it seems to me that as long as early adopters continue to buy SD DVDs, they are prolonging the format war and making it a longer time until SD DVDs go away. Stores didn't reduce pre-recorded VHS and increase DVDs until the sales forced it. STOP BUYING SD DVDs and only buy Blu!!! Especially SD DVDs from non-Blu studios. You can rent them or do other things that shouldn't be discussed here.

Given that I have 20 DVDs I've never watched I stopped buying more until I do watch them.

At least I've had time to watch half of my blu-rays so far

you could say the same thing about DVD and VHS... people kept still buying VHS... best thing to do is slowly alienate the DVD market by saturating it with HD titles. sadly, 90% of america still lives off of a tube.

I ahve to disagree with you on this. Most people don't even own a HD player weather it being Blu-Ray or hddvd how can they stop buying regular dvd's now also forget about the price for the players muchless the movies they are a big difference.I think with prices coming down with HDTV'S that a start but again a majority of people still have DVD'S players in there home.

i'm doing my part. other than tv shows I haven't bought a single dvd in almost 2 years!

also I think everyone needs to ask for blus for xmas. that's almost my entire list this year. just think. if every every member here gets either the harry potter set, spiderman trilogy, or potc trilogy for xmas that is a huge boost to sales. although I think a lot of us are getting all of them anyway.

I'm talking to people HERE who have HD players. People who don't aren't likely to read this or be on this forum.

In that case I amend my original case to include the bi-curious:

"Blu is the way to go!!!"

you can try to compare dvd to hidef media, but with vhs and dvd, you didn't need to upgrade anything other than your media and the player, it might be a longer transition for blu, simply for the fact that alot of people cant afford to upgrade to a hdtv let alone the player.

You want us, a small band of less than five thousand people to make all the difference in doing away with SD DVD?

It has to start somewhere. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.
