Default The People vs. HD

Order in the court. The next is The People vs. HD
I know there have been talks lately about Michael Bay, and talk about to how to get people to go HD if they haven't yet. To me there are a couple of reasons. First, Prices and deals. Everybody loves stuff cheap. I work in retail. Grocery retail anyways, but I go through the same situations and seen it all over the place. I've been to BB during the holidays with pallets of DVD players $20 dollars and people grabbing 3 or 4 of them don't care if its a company no one has ever heard of. At work we'll small tvs and dvd players for the holidays. The dvd players we sold last year was Sungale progressive scan. Never heard of the company, but we had $39.99 on them and sold out of them. People are either not wanting to spend that much for them or they're playing the waiting game. They might wait 2 years before they get one. Thats why Blu-Ray is doing the 5 free movies and HD-DVD is doing 9 now. Its to get people, not only to buy there format but to get people knowing that there saving money even if they're spending $200 to $500 for a BR or HD player.
The Second is they're scared. I didn't realize it until today but I had some guy I work with ask me the question. Do I have a HD player. I told him I had a BR player and if he was wanting to step up to go BR. He told me he was scared to because he gets something new something else better comes out. From tvs to dvd players. He told me he was pissed off about it. So it makes me wonder how many people think if they do upgrade that it will be obsolete.
Third, advertisement. There's really no advertising on tv on BR or HD DVD player. Companies put commercials of there DVDs coming out on DVD and BR, but they don't know what BR is because there's no commercials for BR players, like for cell phones and computers.
Then they're are people who don't know nothing about it and are just fine with what they've got.
Let me get one thing straight before I'm done. I'm not trying to say this is whats on everybodys mind who hasn't upgrading yet. They're are people out there who haven't yet but they're planning on it soon. This is just my opinion.

I can understand waiting some but it's time to dip the toe in the water. How many years of your life are there? Let's say 80. How long are you going to wait? Let's say 2 years.

So people are going to pass up on Blu for 1/40 of their lives just because the price will come down 200-300 dollars?
That's not very intelligent IMO.

Well there are also people out there who don't want to put that kind of money down on something like that. Even on HDTVs. Not knowing in Feb 2009 I believe, that the cable company is going all digital.

You don't need an HDTV to get digital broadcasting, and not all digital broadcasting is in HD.

And the people like your friend in your 2nd scenario will always research and never buy. That's called Paralysis by Analysis

Lets make it simple. Do you have a High Def TV? If the answer is yes, have you got HD service from cable or satelite? If no, have you ever seen a true HD source played on a TV not in a store? If you have seen a HD broacast or source on TV then I think you need to buy a HD source for your TV because you now understand why. If you have not seen a HD broacast then you will be fine with DVD until you do. Good luck
