Default Poll about preordering a ps3

On gamefaqs.com, there is a poll that asks if you would preorder a ps3. Out of all the options available, the one that has the most votes is not ordering one. I assume those that won't preorder a ps3 are the ones that either hate Sony or think that paying $500.00 to $600.00 dollars is too much or both. I will preorder a ps3, the first chance that I get.

yeah i'm definately pre-ordering at least one. Gonna try and get 5 or 6 and liquidate the others to make a nice tidy profit.

I would say preorder one the first chance that you get because anything new goes fast.

The newest Game Informer magazine did a poll of game developers, asking them about the upcoming system. The final question was, "Which system are you most excited to develop for?" Surprisingly, the 360 got the most with 37%, the Wii had 32 or 33%, and the PS3 only had 16% (the rest went to the DS and PSP). So apparently the 360 is the system most developers are interested in right now. I thought it would be the Wii.

Sony's system is supposedly difficult to develop for. People always take the least path of resistance, game developers are people. Fortunately they will not be able to ignore the market for sony branded game machine. Once a few people get the hang of the dev kits, it'll be a walk in the park.

Also those Polls are aimed at trying to prove a point for the original poster and worded and narrowed down to get the results he's looking for.

I am getting a PS3, I wont "pre-order" I will get it when Costco gets it. I will also buy it when the hype dies down and I have the money. most likely feb. (tax return time).

If they were really taking the path of least resistance, the Wii would have 95% of the developer's excited for it, because it is by far the easiest of all the next gen systems to develop for.

none of the systems have an overwelming high percentage of developers "wanting" to develop for them. However a 3-4% differance between 360 & Wii isn't make or break time.

I'd also like to add, that it doesn't matter what the developers want to do. The publishers will decide how many games per system are released, and the developers will make them, or go work somewhere else.

Agreed. However, if a developer wants to make something for system X but not Y, and the publisher tells them to work on games for both systems X and Y, we can assume that he will most likely put more energy and creativity into the work being done on the game for system X.

there are A level developers and B level developers & hell even C level developers.

A level developer doesnt know how to make a crappy game i.e.
COD2, Grand theft auto series, Madden games, etc.

B level developer makes wanna be titles that follow the good titles above,
we all know them, Brothers in arms-state of emergency-NFLBlitz etc.

C level developer just puts out crap "Filler" like Barbie horse game on Xbox.
random GBA titles etc.

I think that's an oversimplification. Even good designers can make bad games.

Not saying they can't. But by your opposition to this theory your saying that developers with smaller budget and less talent can then make equally good games. Hit franchises are no accident usually. Yeah there are the exceptions to everything, but i'm talking commonality here.

Sure, developers with smaller budgets and less talent can still make a good game, they'll probably just be more simple. I mean, would you really call Madden a good game? It does what it set out to do, but it's been the same game since PS1.

How could you not call madden a good game? name one sports game that outsells or outperforms it? It's THE football game every year. ALL OTHERS are a "Me Too" in comparison. Mockary is the highest form of flattery.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, not mockery.

And, in my mind, a good football video game is an oxymoron.

Millions of people also buy albums by The Backstreet Boys. Does that make their music good?

Also, mockery has a different connotation than imitation. They may have similar denotations, but the connotation makes the phrase "Mockery is the sincerest form of flattery" make no sense.

You should try becoming a lawyer, atleast then you could argue for the sake of making money instead of entertaining yourself. Here you just argue for the sake of argument. You base every argument you make as fact when it's always your opinion or perspective. The one time your point to an article, it's based off of an opinion and with no factual backing. Then you come with a lame comparison of Backstreet Boys (music industry) to Madden Game industry. Bro...seriously was that the best you could come up with? that doesn't even warrant a reply or a consideration.

My point is this,
If you dislike Sony...good for you, This is a free country and you can speak to whatever you like ofcourse until the mods get irritated..but as some friendly advice, most here like sony which is why most are on this forum to begin with (hence the name blu-ray.com) If you dislike sony so much (which you obviously do) just hang out and throw hate around with your buddies on avsforum. Don't rain on our parade, we don't want to hear it here...if we want to hear it, trust us...we know where to find it.

However if you have some thought provoking information that we'd probably like to here that doesn't contain underlying objectives i.e. hate on sony...then by all means post up!

Thanks,
Brian

You know, I could become a lawyer, but then I'd be too busy to argue with you, and neither of us would have any fun.

And by the way, between the two of us, I was the only one who even endeavored to answer the OP's question. I did it with the best knowledge we have at this time, i.e. European PS3 game pricing and direct quotes from Ken Kutaragi. You're the one who came in and started *****ing.

And, by the way, how is citing a magazine with direct quotes from a major Sony executive my opinion?

Of course Madden is the same game - unless the rules of the sport change, they game can't change can it?

The point of Madden and ALL annual sports games is to offer the gamer the latest teams/players/stadiums, etc, using the best available technology.

The PSone 1997 Formula 1 game was fantastic, but I don't want to play that now do I!! I want it on PS3.

As for this poll? Who cares. There are over 100 games in development for PS3. There will doubtless be plently of titles that I will want, and that's good enough for me.

As for pre-ordering? I've put my name down informally and as soon as I can I will put my deposit down, ready for November.
