i dont watch TNT too often. however, i was watching Remember the Titans today and there was some serious artifacting. i have directtv with the h2 receiver. anyone know if they are just compressing the sh*t out of the material or what. the picture looked great during still sequences, but motion, forget about it. if anyone knows anything, that'd be great.

I have TNTHD on Cable and it used to look way better. I think they might be using a different encoder than they used to because quality on this channel has slipped tremendously. They used to Show LOTR & Spiderman and they looked awesome. Now everything looks blocky. Maybe i'm just more picky now that i've seen greatness like STEALTH&TRAININGDAY on BR!

Seriously huh, it's difficult for me to get where these people are comming from. I've seen HDDVD several times, and admit it looks good. But I don't see where it's "BLOWING Blu RAY AWAY" i see HD, okay HOFD doesn't look amazing, but it's appreciably better than the DVD, and since it will never come to HDDVD I bought it (plus i love the flick & the sound) I've been loving HBOHD, DIscovery HD and the inHD channels for years and i'm glad I can get content even better than that now on a disc. Simply can't wait til october to get my BDP-S1 and start watching these 11 Flicks I have!

it's funny... even the upconverted material i was watching is prob equal to that of a good portion of the hd material on satelite. which station do you think puts out the best material? i may have to go with discovery on that one (at least the shows i watch). watching the rock on hbohd right now, and while an upgrade, i can still see some issues (again, working with blu-ray for a long time today and thus notice more issues) bit the opening scene def. can notice some things with all the smoke, water, and fast action.

I'm on west coast, so we are just now getting Man on Fire...watched Charlie & Choc & Enterouge earlier.
I'd give it to DIscoveryHD. although inHD 1& 2 are on par with it. HBOHD is very Good except the bandwidth aritfacts during action like fire, explosions fast panning camera movement or a flash from photography. |

im on west coast too... i know u are as well. im in the tahoe area. so yeah, watched man on fire and the rock right now. im agreeing 100% about hbo. it does have that problem. plus, im sure they aren't working with great material to upconvert.
i dont think i get inHD. those might be comcast only (have sat... cant have HD on cable here). |
