Default Image Quality of BDs vs HD-DVDs: DVDfile.com Article

I don't visit DVDfile at all anymore really (comparing video pirates to terrorists proved too much for me to take), but I just checked in and found this really nice article. A very articulate, well researched report on what seems to be proof that BD's tech advantages has made an impact on image quality, in the postive of course. I reccommend this article highly, though DVDfile will sucker punch you in the gut with craziness every now and then. Hope someone finds this interesting.

That is a great article. I never thought to analyze the reviews like that. It only goes to show that BD is better, period!

Why would you need to when I do it for everyone on a monthly basis?

Keep in mind several titles have 5 reviews here, so this is not refelctive of how many titles there actually are on Blu-ray.

Of 680 reviews: 431 MPEG-2, 125 AVC/MPEG-4, 124 VC-1
Average star rating

1) 4.22 stars AVC/MPEG-4
2) 3.94 stars VC-1
3) 3.78 stars MPEG-2

Why is VC-1 so much better? You've got me there! I really don't know.
I sent Dan a copy of my spreadsheet to have some additional numbers to work with for his article.

That article was posted by myself on AVS and caused a lot of trouble:
