Default Do DVD cases seem big now?

I just dug out my MGS3: Subsitence and its in a typical DVD case. The case is huge. I don't see why we needed a case that large for a disc. maybe its because VHS tapes were in such large boxes and it some how pyschologically helped people make the transition. i don't know, but i really do love the "new" boxes for the "new" format, blu-ray. They take up quite a bit less space. Anyways do the old DVD boxes seem large to you now?

Absolutely. This is one of the excuses I tell myself when I replace SDs with Blus. "Gee, you know, they take up less shelf space so you can buy more of 'em." The Smallville and Tip/Tuck TV series Blu's are *really* smaller than their SD equivalents.

Blu's save on plastic, too, with these smaller cases. More environmentally friendly.

I love 'em.

DVD cases have always seemed as having too much volume. That's why I've converted almost all of my DVD's over to thin-packs. Twice the titles in the same space.

I like how the new HD media cases (Blu-ray and HD-DVD) are not as tall as standard DVD cases, I just wish they had gone all the way to half thickness instead of the 2/3's they are.

i hear you, but id be a little concerned about the protection the disc gets from the case if they were much smaller.

This could be an environmental commercial about people who buy dvd's to stop and buy Bd's. And you could have a dvd to BD comparison on chemicals, animals dieing, and dirty air from dvd's and then have less chemicals, happy animals, and clean air from buying BD's!

that would be great, but it would probably be countered from enviromentalits by the fact that our blu-ray players and hdtvs suck up a whole lot more energy than a dvd player and sdtv.

Yes the dvd cases seem to be too big in comparison. I also like the universal size of Blu ray cases instead of dvds which came in different size cases, or even worse the ones I have in the paper cases.

Many of the european Blu-ray cases are thicker than the US ones.So it's NOT a universal size (too bad).

I didn't realize that Skynet. I suppose I should have stated universal as far as here in the states. I don't import movies from elsewhere so the larger cases overseas wouldn't effect me.
