Disney Movie Club Exclusive Blu-ray Releases - Blu-ray Forum

UPDATE: On Feb 20, 2024 DMC announced it was closing up shop within the next couple months (see the main DMC thread for more details). They are currently running a clearance Sale on many items and esp the Yellow Border exclusives. These have been $10 ea over the last week -- DVD and BD. According to DMC reps, the current supply is very limited and there will be not further reprintings of current stock so "While Supplies Last" generally should be taken as OOS is OOP and gone. There always a chance they can find a hidden box in their warehouse, but for the most part this appears to be the last official stock. Last count overnight 2/28/2024 showed about 1/2 the BD were already sold out and since most of these were likely pressed in fairly small quantities I would most of them going OOS sooner than later would be expected.

Disney has started releasing titles for the first time on Blu-ray, exclusive to members of the Disney Movie Club.

All pertinent information is found in the first few posts of that thread, with a breakdown of how the club works and how to get the best deal out of joining. The Promo Codes are incredibly important and the FAQ in Post 2 should answer most of the typical questions.

In answer to one of the most common questions -- new releases are not immediately available as Initial Enrollment picks and are only available after you join. Usually 60-90 days after release date, the new items are added to enrollment eligible selections.

The Disney Movie Club is now releasing previously unreleased Disney Classics on Blu-ray!! The Apple Dumpling Gang 40th Anniversary and The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes 45th Anniversary Edition are both coming out September 9th of this year!! Let's hope they continue this trend and release more great Disney Classics on Blu-ray!

I'm sorry, I didn't find a general thread for Disney Club exclusives so I'm resurrecting this one.

Since there is a consistency this year of releases every 2 months (February, April, June), shouldn't we see now a couple of new releases?

They just put out Mr. Boogedy and Bride of Boogedy on DVD. The general rules seems to be if there's an Exclusive DVD, they don't do an exclusive BD at the same time. My guess is the next exclusive BDs won't be until October or November.

I've just noticed that all Disney Club Exclusive BLurays are anniversaries, except Old Yeller, Return from Witch Mountain and Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo.
(of course the last 2 were released to couple with the Escape to Witch Mountain and the other Herbie movie).

So, that said, there could be some possibilities in 2016 for:

The Great Locomotive Chase (1956)
The Absent Minded Professor (1961)
The Parent Trap (1961)
Dragonslayer (1981)
The Watcher in the Woods (1981)
White Fang (1991)

Maybe we could get 2 more in December of 2015?
I'd love One Magic Christmas (1985)!

My best guess would be that Absent Minded Professor and Parent Trap would be no brainers.

Would love to see Follow me Boys, Thomasina and more Kurt Russell.

Dragonslayer was a co-production with Paramount, and Paramount controls US distribution, so this is unlikely. (Especially since they've let it move to the Warner distribution deal... And no, Warner Archive will not likely release it, I don't think they're allowed to do Paramount releases this way.)

I totally agree! I even suggested it to the DMC about a month ago. I'm obsessed with Mr. Dark's monologue in the library scene. Isn't there a remake in the works? If so, perhaps it will push the original to hit blu-ray.
