I had the same problem, got to the vaio update site, (you should have an icon in your taskbar or start menu that will take you straight to it) do the firmware and windvd bd updates and you should be fine.

Startrack,

What Blu-Ray movies Playing Software are you using?
What error (if any) does the playing software gives you?

Windows by default does not instantly play back anything but mpegs and wmvs, and streaming content. To playback DVDs, you need a software such as Power DVD, or WinDVD. ATi users can use ATI MMC, Nvida users can use NVDVD. Sony also proides thier own proprietary DVD playback suite on their Laptops.

Basicaly Windows needs sofware to playback Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. You can't expect to pop in a Disk and hope it magically plays, this is MSFT we are talking about. If wanted instant play back, you should have got a Mac.

The manual that came with your Laptop will have a more indepth description on the software you have. You may have a Blu-Ray playback software, or you may only have a Blu-Ray burning software included in your package.

If you don't have a playback software, then you must find one. Google it.

Another thing is region. If you so happend to have ordered a Laptop from the US, the Drive is designed for US and Japan region code. If it's like DVD+/-RW drives, then it should alow you to change regions, however you can only do so 3 times then your stuck. Set it to PAL region. The best way to learn how to do that is to do a search on the web.

You need to play the movie back using WIN DVD BD which is the software the machine is shipped with.
