Hairspray's PIP. Fake or real? - Blu-ray Forum

I am really wondering to those who got Hairspray.
I tried the PIP feature. I thought it was real until I saw it moving from bottom right to bottom left, which left me wondering if it's real or fake.

I have also heard that some of PIP in planned titles are fake. Is Hairspray one of them?

From what I read, Hairspray's PiP is fake. It is only available on certain scenes and they use seamless branching to make this work.

The first PiP titles will be out next year.

thanks for confirming. just tried to get the song "good morning baltimore" off youtube. the quality is significantly lower compared to the BD version of the music.

I almost bought this for the PiP and for the Lady but this film looked not so good, Opinion I just dont like musicals so obviously this ones not for me. I think Sunshine is the First title to have True PiP in the begining of the year.

i got it yesterday and i never experienced hd's ime/pip but this is how hairspray works. you go into the special feats. and turn on the pip, once you turn it on it shoots you right into the movie where the pip is on 95%of the movie. But i thought this was wierd, if you bring up the pop up menu and turn pip off it goes right back to the main menu, then if you try to start up the movie with out the pip it starts the movie all over BUT if you turn pip back on it start right where you left off when you originally had the pip on. i also noticed if you try and mess with the special feats. pip is really cool but not somthing im gonna go nuts over. it would be nice if you could turn it off and on without interupting your movie.

I don't get it...what difference does it make. Whether it is true PIP or static, as long as it does the same job what does it matter? Also can you truely tell the difference?

Obviously there is no difference, HD-DVD's pip is not all the way through the film either.

Wait so Hd dud pip is not true pip either its static like hairspray? Or is it true but not completely functional throught the entire film? Have never seen a Dud and will never but kinda interested if the one feature that they have will be inferior to Blu's PiP that will appear in Sunshine.

I'm so disapointed to see that the Blu-Ray of Hairspray doesn't include French soundtrack when it's availlable on standard DVD !!! What's the problem with them ? Wasn'T Blu-Ray supposed to offer more ? I will probably buy it on DVD only for this reason

Not that I can't watch an english movie, but many of my friends/family don't speak or understand English, so it means I would not be able to watch it with them !

So sad... Is it possible that they will release a new version when the European one will be released ?

hey, could you tell me if the french version of DVD have good morning baltimore in french? I am a collector of soundtrack, and french made up the second biggest language of my whole soundtrack collection

No all the songs in Hairspray are Originals, but with subtitles ! I love it better this way

But this is the Quebec version, can't say about the France version !!!

Who cares as long as it works? I don't care about PIP on BDs at all, but if you do care, just enjoy that it works. Anything else is nit-picking.

With HD DVD PIP you can turn them on and off throughout the movie as you want. With all the fake Blu-ray PIP so far, you can't toggle between the 2 without restarting the film. With Descent and Crank, for some reason, the menu buttons were disabled when playing the PIP version, but it seems with Hairspray, they didn't make that stupid error.

definitely. If you like musical films (sound of music, high school musical, grease), this is definitely for you. Loved the first song of the movie.

PQ great. SQ great (although not PCM)
