Default Amazon pimping HD DVD in emails

Just got home, check my emails and I see this

"From Amazon.com: Get an HD DVD Player for $199, Plus 10 Free HD DVDs"
For a limited time, get a Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD player for $199, plus a total of 10 free HD DVDs. (The HD-A30 and HD-A35 players are also eligible for the 10 free HD DVDs offer.) With picture quality six times better than standard def, HD DVD takes home entertainment to the next level.

Got the same email. I deleted it. They are simply trying to sell stuff. Of course, with the sophisticated software they have, they ought to know better when all I've EVER bought from them is Blu.

Especially when they have the ability to make recommendations based on your buying and browsing history. They are wonderfull when it comes to collecting information on your buying and browsing habits.

I also got that. I wonder whether this is sent to people in general or just us Blu-ray people. Nevertheless, it's gone straight to the trash.

I sent Amazon an email complaining about the HD-DVD banner on the home page. As a BD fan i told them i was not happy at the bias they appear to be showing and as a customer of 10 years i did not appreciate it.

Yikes, you just made me feel old by saying that. I can't believe it's already been a decade since my first amazon purchase.

As for the content of the OP, it's just advertising, both sides do it all the time and in the long run something like this will have no effect on the format war. This is pretty much a non issue.

Default I am disgusted.

Amazon had the audacity to send me an email letting me know that over 100 HD DVDs are now 50% off. Did anybody else get this spam?

Send them a nasty e-mail letting them know your seriously contemplating whether you'll buy from them ever again. Might get a $10 off coupon or something.

Dear Amazon.com,

Thank you for your recent e-mail concerning your 50% discount on HD-DVD movies. Please be aware that you could discount these movies a further 50%, and I still would not buy those useless pieces of crap.

However, if you decide to give them away for free, let me know. I could use them for my 2008 Time Capsule honoring the worst products of all time.

Thanks.

Its just an email based on your buying habits and unfortunately blu-ray and HDDVD are in the same category there so when you buy one, you get offers for the other.

Amazon just wants to sell more product, I dont think they take partiality.

but.....
you can check the lil box or respond back and take your name off the mailing list. Kills all emails from them, including the good ones, so I just filter them with the delete option here

The above option would work, but they will respond with another prewritten email that will piss you off more

So they are jacking the price of the A3 by $70? That seems odd. At this point they need to be cutting the price.
