Help me help my brother get a new TV!!! - Blu-ray Forum

After my brother saw my TV, he wanted a new one. He had some cheap branded flat panel 720p. I have the Samsung HL-T5687s. He saw the true beauty of Blu in 1080p and decided it was time for him to step up to the plate.

Anyways, to the point, he is looking for a 50+ inch tv that is 1080p, so what would your guys' suggestion be? He said he wouldn't mind getting the same one as me, but I know that there must be plenty of options out there. His budget is NO MORE than $2000-$2500, so keep that in mind.

I've heard good things of Samsung DLPs - around $2000 for 50" and 56" 1080p TVs with a 10k contrast ratio.

Yup. That's what I have, the Samsung LED 56". While my brother loved my TV, he would also like to see what else is out there.

I did tell him though, that for the price, he might want to go with the one I have.

I have a 56in DLP also. Its the best for the buck IMO. Sony is good but not that much better. Tell him to go with one of the new Samsung DLP Slims
