CC needs to get a clue!! How do you screw this up? - Blu-ray Forum

Well I went into CC today to pickup POTC 3 on BR. Right when you walk in they have a huge display of the POTC 3 then on the left they have a beautiful Panny Plasma playting POTC.

Only problem its the SD version and it looks like crap. The picture looked so bad. I heard a guy say. "Wow BR is nothing special" The picture really sucks. I explained to him it wasnt BR but just the Regular DVD

This is the time to really show off POTC 3 on BR and they didnt. Unreal

They must of had 75 copies of POTC 3 on BR just sitting there next to a Beautiful Panny Plasma playing the SD Version..

You have every right in the world to rant about that...do not apologize. That is a sorry set-up that CC has and they need to be the ones apologizing. Even if they were trying to push an HD-DUD exclusive they should still have that playing instead of the DVD version. Unacceptable.

CC is not the powerhouse it used to be. BBy is much stronger imo, but they too have done crap like that but worse.
At my local BBy, they had an XBOX 360 with add-on advertising HD DVD in a demo set up playing the DVD of CARS!
Needless to say, it is no longer running cars. Also, it is no longer working at all. All their HD DVD demos are down but the BD demos work fine.

I agree with your rant. That is misleading if customers assume is BD and it's plain ol' SD. Lame!

All the CC where I live are biased & hate Blu , & do this sh** on purpose

This is somewhat related, so I thought people may enjoy this story.

I went in to the magnolia center at Best Buy a few weeks ago and was checking out some TVs. I noticed they had some BD playing on some 42" TVs, and on all the 42-50" TVs they have in an array on the corner wall. So I walk in to the theatre rooms with all the sound setups and the huge 60" TV... and they are playing Jurassic Park on DVD... not even upconverted. It looked like butt, and made me want to cry.

Well I can tell you that the Magnolia my b/f works at is on top of the ball. As we speak they have Polar Express playing inside they're room on blu!!

People still wonder why CC is closing down stores. Unbelievable that they still don't have a clue!!!

ANyone that goes to CC for these things thinking they are getting the best and greatest, should remember which store was the only store to promote the DivX disc against DVD.

Very true. I don't have a Circuit City near me. The one that was here closed several years ago. I had only ever been in there once or twice. Their prices were not good compared to Best Buy or even the local places.

I had to ask 3 people at CC (granted, a few years back) where they kept SACD and DVD-Audio, and finally they sent me to a stack of CD-Rs in the computer section...

I am extremely proud to say (especially considering they haven't built the Best Buy store yet) that most of the people at our Circuit City are VERY helpful... and they usually have at least an employee or two that knows about the stuff they are selling.

That's more than I can say for most people who sell electronics around here...

I know what you mean, i went to the NEX(Navy store) and they had a 60" sony RPTV hooked up to the Sharp BD player playing Spiderman 3(BD) guess what, using the composite cables

not component, composite, it looked like crap, i mentioned something about it but the 16 year old didn't seen to care much.

Ya strange thing is there building a new building where i live Cc that is fromt he outside and the quick eye inside it looks to be a nice setup just hope they can get some people who know what the beep there doing in it to make people want to go there since they are right next to a target, costco and a walmart about a mile down the road when the store opens

plus the CC had the only 60gb ps3 left when i went hunting for one so there not all bad ;p

That is some sad misleading advertisment. You would assume that they're playing POTC 3 BD on the way in by the looks of it but it must be really disappointing for new people who are trying to see the BLU light. Can this be a candidate for false advertisment? ... it's hurting the BD if you really think about it....
