Default New name to replace dual shock

http://www.ps3land.com/article-701.php

By now everyone knows that the new ps3 controller will not include rumble, but the question is what do you call it? With the Tokyto Game Show coming up, Sony may answer the question. A while back, it was mentioned that Sony had two annoucements to make reguarding the ps3. I would bet a new console that one of the annoucements will be about the ps3 network or more importantly what the interface will look like. What about the second, we'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, one of the possible names for the new ps3 controller might be sixaxis, but that isn't a smooth a word as dualshock.

This is the one feature that is sadly going to be gone.. I was kind of hoping sony would settle with Immersion.

I really like the rumble feature and the dual shock controller is such a great one. I really hope that they decide to call it something good rather than something horrible. The funny thing is that there controller was so popular for so long and now they want to go and change it I don't understand.

The name "dual shock" can't be used because the word "shock" was used to describe the rumble. The word "dual" comes from dual analog sticks I would think. I never play with the rumble function so I wouldn't even miss the feature. I like the tilt more. I don't know if six axis is the right name for the controller. The name comes from tilting the controller six degrees in all directions.

They should name the new PS3 controller "Dual Nin ripoff". The PS3 controller also has an accelerometer that can detect motion in any direction. It's basicaly the same stuff that's in the Wii's nunchuck attatchment. The tilt feature is not new, it's quite old, some old MSFT sidewinder controlls for PC have been released, however failed, because no software utilized it. Funything was Sony decided to add these features in, after the nintendo's Wii controller was receiving lots of attention.

Don't worry, these features will only be used in racing games, and flying games, nothing more. Where as 100% of Wii games are built from the ground up to use their much more capable controller.

Everything about the modern game controller was either invented by nintendo or released first by nintendo. From directional pad, to SNES arrayed buttons and triggers, to analog thumb stick, to rumble feedback, to radio wave based wireless controllers. All these features make up the modern controller. The reason why they rule is because of nintendo's own brilliance. Sure some modifications were made, however, if it never exsisted in the first place, Sony and MSFT would have nothing to improve on. They would have to do the inventing, and that would be bad.

Look everybody - it's a Nintendo troll.

So the tilt feature will only feature in flying and racing games, eh? what about Resistance: Fall of man, that game will feature it, it's also been suggested by the developer that Call of Duty 3 will feature it, as well as MGS4.

You're clearly a Ninty troll trying to stir things up. How completely boring.
Grow up.

nintendo is awesome. with the ps3's tech capabilities and the nintendo's line up of cult video games, the pair would be unstopable.

LOL @ the troll..

anyway. takezo.

It can also be said that Nintendo ripped off Sony with the controller. If the eye toy never existed,(eye toy, can sense what user is doing and match in game movement to the person) whos to say if nintendo would have even thought of using that technology in their "next gen" console.

I kind of feel that Sony should put more thought (support) into the eye toy. this thing could kick ass. Id love to play a boxing game by really swinging around my hands.

yeah i think interfaces are very important, although some system along time ago had some kind of glove interface (i think nintendo) but i dont know what it was used for.
i don't think anybody needs to be a troll for giving nintendo props, they were the most important gaming company argueably ever, and probably the one that is most concerned about gameplay rather than specs. also keep in mind that the original playstation was supposed to be a nintendo release (but nintendo did something stupid).

The N64 analog stick sucked big time and lost all sensitivity after a few months of play. The PS1 analog sticks were way more reliable. Wasn't the PS1 the first to use dual analogs, doesn't everyone else use dual analogs now... yeah I thought so.

I really laughed at that comment, where did you get that information? 100% of Wii games using the controller? Even if that was true, it would end up like the DS, the touchscreen is used as the menu or minor stuff on most of the games, things that could have been done without one.

Back on Topic:
Its been confirmed it will be called sixaxis
