Default DD HD worth the upgrade from Multi Ch PCM?

Is it worth upgrading to a better receiver just for this extra feature. for me personally I think the sound from Multi Ch in is great but I just want to hear opinions on how DD HD is better compared to Multi Ch PCM.

How many of these "upgrade" threads are you going to make?

Listen....the PS3 plays Uncompressed PCM and Dolby TrueHD. (pop in '300', it has both tracks)

Multichannel PCM is all you need, and all you will get from the PS3.

Keep the receiver you have. and be done with it.

As long as your reciever is able to accept audio over HDMI then theres no need to upgrade your amplifier.

Like the previous poster stated...the PS3 has a built in decoder for Dolby TrueHD. What this does is decodes the TrueHD as a PCM 5.1 and sends in across the HDMI to your reciever. The other option is if you do buy a new reciever with a TrueHD decoder (or even a DTS-HD decoder)...the PS3 will send the audio across the HDMI as a bitstream format and then the reciever will do the decoding..

There will be NO DIFFERENCE in which way you decided to decode. It is redundant.

The PS3 cannot send Lossless audio via bitstream. (which is why theres no need to upgrade the receiver...unless the OP wants to buy a whole new Bluray player that can.)

I think the OP wants to spend some money because this is the third or fourth thread about the same thing and the same answer is given.

Keep the receiver, buy more Blu-ray's.
